This is simply stunning defending. In the space of fewer than twenty seconds, he won us that game, more so than Salah or Lloris' mistake did.
Think about how many decisions he made there, in an instant.
I'll break it down (in one long sentence cos it happened that quickly that there is no room for full stops here!).
We are outnumbered, Sissoko & Son are running full pelt towards our goal, Sissoko has the ball, only VVD is back, he initially squeezes the play & cuts off the pass to Son, by firstly, unbelievably, slowing, his run down so he doesn't overtake them, then arcing his run across Son so there's no pass for Sissoko to make, that pushes back towards Sissoko & times it perfectly so that Sissoko has to use his weaker foot, then, with yet more impeccable timing, the split second Sissoko makes that switch to his weaker foot he dives in just far enough that he throws him off his shot, without making any contact whatsoever.
If we win the league in a few weeks time, that will be a huge reason why, in that few fleeting moments, Virgil Van Dijk won us that match, & three HUGE points, & he didn't even have to touch the ball to do it.
This is a truly remarkable player we have, the best defender in the world by a LONG way, & easily the best I have ever seen.
