Post Match West Ham (H) 2-1 Sunday 13th April

Thankfully most teams just look at our open, gaping anus and decide "oh we simply couldn't"

We should have lost today
Yet when we needed to respond we did in 90 seconds and never were behind or looked like going behind so that’s a stretch.

We could have drawn though.

I'm honestly beginning to think that the players just aren't good enough.

If they're not 100% rested, tucked in with a goodnight kiss, some of them can't pick a pass.

Think it’s more mentally and nerves in all honesty at 1-0. Had we gotten a second goal the game would have totally changed.

Macca did that. Alexis MacAllister took the bull by the horns, forced a corner, then whipped in a delicious ball.

Fuck me, West Ham turned into prime Barcelona in that second half.

Thank fuck for that.

Beat Leicester City and it’s done regardless you’d think but we looked awful second half.

Surprised Chiesa didn’t come on with 25 to go for Salah but we’ll take it.

What a performance from Allison.

I like Kelleher but if he was in nets today I think we lose.
They starting finding their best players in Paqueta, Kudos, and Bowen, which are all capable of causing problems for any team. And switching out their left back shut down Mo.

It will be interesting to see how West Ham do next year. They are capable.

I don't understand the nerves argument though.

At that moment, seeing out the game means we're 13 points clear. We're not worrying about a cup final or CL knockout.

If the players are that mentally fragile that being 1-0 against 17th placed west ham, at home, makes them nervous, then they shouldn't be playing for us

Not having that. Being overplayed has taken its toll. The physical and mental fatigue accumulates over time and we haven't taken opportunities to dissipate it when they've presented themselves. Creates tough matches where we can't turn to the bench early. Becomes a negative cycle.

They could pick passes in the first half of the season. So either they're exhausted or other managers have figured us out. On the manager either way.

As the season has gone on, I've noticed:

1) More errors creeping in from VVD and Konate.
2) Mo's legs starting to go around 70mins, and unable to beat players 1v1s (especially 2nd half).
3) Our other forwards + Szobo contributing less and less.
4) Gravy looking less and less dominating in DM.
5) Our FBs getting beat more and more
6) Reliance on Quansah/Keheller/Jones being more and more costly
7) Slot's subs being less effective

I think we need to solve this in the transfer market. This team is at the end of a cycle. Thankfully, we're picking up a league title. Slot has done a magnificent job in the first 2/3 of the season. But this last 1/3 should serve as a warning ahead of next season.

He had nobody to cover so was covering the space. It’s a pretty normal thing for a full back to do Virgil was just asleep yet again.
He was covering the space that van dijk was in?

Why not cover the back post in case the ball went across the entire goal

It's fucking atrocious full back play that you'd kick off about if you saw it Sunday league, let alone from potential league champions

Like I'd excuse the nerves if we were 2 points clear. That makes sense

Fucking 10 points clear?

No

Cowards and charlatans

I don't think it's nerves. I do think fatigue is contributing to poor choices as well as draining the athleticism needed to dominate the ball.

Some of the players, not all. The subs actively made us worse.

We play 1 game a week now. If that's mental fatigue then we may as well get knocked out of everything early.

We have quite a few mentally fragile players out there, who don't like fighting. All well and good to excel when then entire team turns up; different kettle of fish when you need to do it alone potentially

There's a few passengers in our side, and I'm getting fed up of itn

Second season in a row I have not wanted to see Szob past March. Not much pressing in evidence but certainly quite monstrous in this form.

He’s part of the collective we, we were never behind and they did nothing when it was 0-0 or 1-1. We led for most of the game.

West Ham were superb second half and played like a team with absolutely nothing to lose against a team who don’t seem to like to stick the boot in until Endo comes on.

That’s all well and good on paper, but the pressure of being so close to the title is tough for anyone.

It was a cornerstone of my Sunday league career, well that and back post headed goals 🤣

Well at least we weren’t shit in the first half…

Past caring about performances - 3 points, league’s won, it’s only a matter of when.

Same old problem though, too many out-of-sorts players, but.. whatevs!!!

I agree it's tough, but we've found ourselves in making it as easy as any run in could be. Now we struggle? Now our mentality dips? Do we thrive on pressure and when there's none, we struggle?

I just think we gave a limited midfield selection beyond the main 3 and we need more quality options to bring in after 65 mins.

I care about performances. This is the crunch part of the season and another season where performances drop. I dont like it

We can wank ourselves silly when we win the fucking thing, but that doesn't mean we should be accepting of a certain level of performance
