Post Match West Ham (H) 2-1 Sunday 13th April

We have different levels of acceptable performances when it comes to that word. Trent against United was just as bad as some of the performance in the 2nd half out there today. Or is it exhaustion when the player isn't leaving us?

I'm not even trying to be arsey there. Excuses can be made for a wealth of things and a league win can paper over a lot of cracks. There are players out there that I do not believe are playing for Liverpool football club and it's fans. They get their money and that's enough.
That Trent 'performance' was, for me, due to a lack of giving the slightest fuck about us anymore... That's what made it so disgusting to me. THAT is cowardice. And the fact that it's so rarely seen is what makes it so glaring.

Contrast that with Robbo, for example... Fucking useless now, but I know in my heart he'd sacrifice all but his family for the club. He was woeful today, again, but he's not a coward (and yes, I know you didn't name him, but I'm just showing where I differ from you, when considering that word).

You have to truly not give one single, solitary fuck for me to deem you a coward, and I simply don't see that from any of the players you've named here... I completely agree that some have been playing pure shite and probably aren't good enough for us to be regular champions for the next 5 years, but that's a different category for me.

And that's fair. For me that's not cowardice from Trent, that's just sheer unadulterated apathy. And that from a Scouser born and bred is worse than a coward. Lower than low.

A coward is someone like naby keita for me. Half heartedly tries, but doesn't really. Turns up. Gets his money. I don't put malice or ill intent to it. Just the wrong mentality for Liverpool.

Robbo I'll agree, as shite as he was today, was no coward.

Szob, in his 20 minute cameo that dreamy told me to rewatch, did 0 tackles, 0 duels, and won 1 header. He ran about. I can run about for 20 minutes (just about). Give me 150k a week please.

That's the level I mean for me.
I want more. I want aggression. I want fire.

We've grown up seeing the likes of Gerrard and carragher put their body on the line for this club.
We've seen Dirk fucking kuyt run fucking days. We've seen agger fly in to Torres. We've seen skrtel monster players. We've seen jonjo fucking shelvey Call arguably the greatest premier league manager out after being sent off. We've seen Henderson and milner scream at players until the 98th minute

Yes, we're winning the league and that puts this current group in a separate bracket to some of the ones I've mentioned. But fuck me some of them deserved it more

I may not seem it, but I'm very happy with the 3 points, especially after they scored

I may not seem it but I fucking love that we're going to win the league

I also don't see the point on coming on a football forum and sucking our own dicks until we lift the trophy. There's issues in this squad and I have no qualms in talking about them now. If others don't, then cool. Don't.
I'm not bothered by you (or anybody) pointing out the glaring issues that we do still very obviously have... There are several things we need to address this summer, of course.

I'm very obviously just picking you up on your use of that particular word today. I think it's such a terrible thing to be called, that it really has to be warranted to be thrown out... I do feel that some (not you, I don't think) are overly negative on here, as if anything but perfection deserves the harshest of criticism, and others (maybe you, I'm not sure) are sooooooo overly cautious as to not even be able to enjoy the ride as we cruise to no. 20, and I genuinely find that sad.

If we can't enjoy the good times, when we're so obviously in the middle of them, what's the point..? This is meant to be our relief from the other stresses that life throws at us - We have to enjoy it sometimes! 🙂

I wouldn't call that cowardice either.
He got caught in headlights and we don't know if there was an injury holding him back. Think he has alluded to it and he was one of your best players before injured again.
Would just prefer to call them either being not good enough or a bit shite instead.

Understood. We define the word very differently. And, for me, I cannot think of a worse insult that 'coward', which is why I've reacted like I have.

And I agree about Szobo today, by the way. And especially about Keita...

Believe me, there's an arsenal fan in work I'm going to be insufferable for when it's won

I just don't want to act like it is won. And that's what some players seem to be like

Maybe but I went to the match stressed out hoping for a couple of hours of relief and came out the ground wishing I'd watched a particularly gruesome horror at the pictures instead. We all enjoyed the header at the end but there's no way I could ignore not only how shite we were but how Slot seemed to be dumping the shite right out of his arse onto us. It was obvious that we were getting torn apart after he'd made all the pointless changes, but there weren't any answers or on field changes to cover for the gaps that suddenly appeared everywhere.

Being crowned champions is all that matters.
Our issues can be fixed and addressed this summer. Slot said as much last week.

On the cusp of winning the league for the second time in 35 years. But here we are doing our best impression of Arsenal Fan TV.

God, this place is losing all its joy.

Quotes from Slot after the game along the lines of we don't win games the easy way and if we win the title it'll basically be down to the players' mentality.

I'm telling you, he doesn't like the way we play football. I've thought that since the comments around the PSG tie.

I think there'll be major changes to our style next season once he's got more like his own squad. It'll be Guardiola style, or more like it, anyway.

Next season could be the transitional season we thought we'd get this year.

Couldn't agree more. I'll always like and respect members of this group, but it's not the same as 05 winners or Klopps PL/CL winners. I thought it was just being more apathetic with age and maybe it is, but there's not enough fight and fire in this squad for me to be as attached.

I do agree with others, I think it's a case of now gettig this PL over the line and when I look at our current pts total, just wow and we have been waiting so long for this.🙂
So we have done something right and I guess the last 7 weeks is making us forgetting those things we have done so well, maybe we have become a little spoilt.
We just need a couple of big players in summer, often we think we need 5-6 but 2-3 right players end up changing big dynamics to offer a bigger change than wholesale changes.

Perhaps it's slots style, of just efficiently effective football, that we don't need that type of player a majority of the time, and I'm not used to it so I'm not gelling with it. Every chance I'm just a miserable cunt so looking for the problem that isn't there. I just can't accept poor performances, even if we win.

I'll leave the whole 'coward' thing with this: For me, it's such a strong word, that I honestly don't even feel that TAA was a coward against the scum this season - He was just utterly useless and he's clearly stopped caring... I can forgive the poor performance if he still wanted to play for us and was trying his best, but that last part of the sentence just makes him a cunt, in my book.

However, if you want to see the very definition of cowardice taking place on a football pitch, go and rewatch what our vice-captain did when he should have been defending the back post at that blue shit-box, late last season, when we were losing to those cunts, and we still had a good chance to win the league. That was cowardice personified, and I will never, ever forgive that.

Oh, 100%... This team isn't even nearly as likeable as that side, for those reasons you both outline. That's all fair.

Can you stop fucking coward-shaming please.

There needs to be a conversation about Jota after the season. 16 touches in 60 mins. Moves like his body is finished.
I’d sell him this summer.

He is done, isn't he? It seems like a Fabinho, but Hendo level decline this season. For his sake, it might be better if he moves to Saudi Arabia, Italy, or Spain.

Our issues can be fixed and addressed this summer. Slot said as much last week.

This won't be fixed if the players we sign aren't exactly to Slot's liking. And there's a good chance of the signings not being quite right.

This is what separated Klopp from almost all other managers. Klopp would try to get the most from everyone at his disposal. It's the reason he was able to transform our football club.

Slot would be doing himself a big favour if he were to adopt such an attitude. He hasn't even tried with the likes of Endo and Elliott

So is it the system or what? Somehow we might get 94 points but if we played like this from the start of the season it's hard to feel we would be better than top 4, which is also what everyone expected of us.

I'm worried that Virg was next to useless in a good few moments, Konate also showed his arse enough, and it could be fairly said that Gravenberch was poor to shit for most of the second half.

Either we need to sign quite a lot of players in the summer, or its hard to see how we finish this high again.

Then again, maybe we just need a striker up front who scores 15 a season alongside Salah and we'll just score enough to win. Hard to tell what comes next

Still think the style is a big problem, adapting to 100MPH football to this slow, tepid pile of wank.......perfectly encapsulated by the last 10 mins of the game.

Soon as they equalise we decide we need to wake up, dominate for 5mins until we get the goal, then we fall right back into our comfort zone. We can play well for longer than 45mins, we're simply not coached to.

Need to see more from Arne on the touch line to drive these players and need to have more from the crowd to drive these players.

It's cos watching that second half was torture. We played for about three minutes after they scored until we scored. The other fifty odd they were just asking for trouble constantly. So frustrating.
This is exactly my feeling described 100%, and its been going on in nearly every game since the PSG game. One of the key things that Slot said in one press conference which I hope he holds to - is that for next season he wants to have a squad that compete in all competitions. Honestly right now this squad of ours is only good for one half of football - they look fucked beyond that. I type this as I watch Harvey Barnes just scores a great goal against the United.

Its weird to see fans having a go at the manager that has gotten the team 13 points clear and won more games in 50 then any other manager in the history of the club.

It’s a bit Arsenal Fan TV for me. I actually hate it after a win.

We should be enjoying the 3 points and talk about being 6 points from NR 20.

Instead it’s an argument about squad players minutes. Fucking hell.

It's an argument about ensuring our key players don't break.

I'm beyond thrilled about the title. I'm less enthused about not using the players we have to help preserve the players we need.

Has nothing to do with having a go at the manager. It's fair criticism. These are the standards that are required if you want to challenge at the top season after season.

Winning the title in 2020 was one of the most special things I've ever experienced. Winning this year is almost as sweet.

But I want to get to that point where IT'S FUCKING BORING to ONLY win the league.

I love Slot. I think he's conducted himself very well thus far, coming into a near impossible situation following Klopp and mostly played a blinder. I like him as a human being too.

But he needs to be held as accountable as all the players on the pitch.

It’s being addressed this summer.

Yeah, got Fabinho vibes in the 2nd half when he could barely move when trying to press their players.

Maybe if Hughes had changed the squad up a bit in the 3 months he had in the summer, then again in the month he had in Jan.....maybe just maybe we wouldn't look as shit as we have in the last 3 months.

The stupid fucking sausage.

Let's hope so.

In the meantime, I hope Gravy or Macca (for example) don't get seriously injured.

And since the title is essentially in the bag, what is there to lose by assessing some of the bench squad and giving our starters a break, even for 30-40 mins per week.

We can do that when the league is won
