Pretty surprised by the results so far. Might be because we don't really have a back up for Suarez in the striker roll.
Carroll isn't cutting it atm.

Wing position? Not sure we need a winger considering that we've got Downing, Bellamy, Maxi, Kuyt and Hendo playing there.

Understandably, a defensive midfielder is needed due to Lucas injury.

I voted for a defensive midfielder and an attacking midfielder.

I'd rather have a central midfielder. Why does he just have to be "defensive"?

A Graeme Souness type would be nice.

I dunno, we need someone who terrorises the right wing more than what Stalin did. Someone who can get the ball and run past people with blistering speed and knock a decent ball into the box.

When is downing going to start hitting those balls into the wheely bins?

I hope any signings we make in Jan '12 will be a long term one and hopefully as successful as Suarez.

Downing: Impact"-less" atm
Bellamy, Maxi, Kuyt: 32, 30 and 31 respectively
Hendo: Question - long term CM or wing? See Downing.

The left, to a degree, is sorted with Bellamy and Maxi, but Henderson has struggled on the right and Dirk only looks comfortable as part of a midfield attacking three. Good though he is, play a 4-4-2 with Dirk and you know you're in for a long afternoon.

Hoilett and a striker would be my choices. After Lucas injury I think we need a DM aswell, but that depends on whats available out there.

Couple of Uruguay fans said we should be Rios.

I'd take Hoilett too, he looks a good player. Downing could have a go on the right.

I voted striker. We're creating tons of chances but not finishing them. Had we converted all our draws (in games that we dominated) into wins, we would be 10 points to the good. We need a proven goalscoring striker who hits the back of the net with regular monotiny.

Lucas' injury is a blow and I do believe that Daniel De Rossi has refused to sign a new contract which makes him a very attractive cheap midfield option. He has 6 months left at Roma. He'd be some sensational replacement for Lucas.

He'll never come to Liverpool.

I think it's a tight call.

If Stevie comes back from injury on a pretty permanent basis then we need a right wing. I'm pretty sure there is a generation of Liverpool fans who have grown up under the mantra of "we need a right wing".

That said I'm not convinced that Stevie is either going to come back from injury permanently or, if he does, is going to play in behind the strikers. If he doesn't do both these things then I'm going to say we need a striker. To be honest the mancs have got the prototype of what we need IMO.

First and foremost its got a to be a striker, we are creating bags of chances and scoring virtually a goal a game, over the course of a season thats not gonna be good enough for champions league football

As a a general weaker area the right wing slot needs to be looked at, its not an urgent need but really would help give us some balance, we are crying out for more pace in the wide areas

that said I wouldnt mind seeing some of the younger players given a go at filling these positions before we run off and spend millions in january, for the right wing position there are options within the squad. Johnson has never been tried there, and Id like to see Sterling get some sort of run out this season too, whether we have enough options to muddle through between Kuyt Bellamy Henderson Downing Johnson and Sterling is worth considering, but upfront we clearly need to shake things up a bit

a RW that scores is the most important. Striker is second. A DM third depending on Spearing and Coady. I don't want to be playing with 2 strikers so RW that scores is of paramount importance.

I've amended that for you considering we are talking about a real right winger.

Henderson is not a winger and never will be. He looks so much better when moved inside.

We need a CM to help monster midfield battles. Considering whats out there in the prem as opponents, this should be a achievable target in the Jan window. Although this won't solve all our problems, trying for anything else will be far too ambitious and will probably result in wasted efforts. We should be in the transfer market in the summer to get at least one top notch forward player. I don't care if thats a winger, AM or Striker.....but we need one really class player in the Torres/Suarez mould.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed, that Raheem Sterling will be a lot closer to being first team ready...

A world class player in attack. Position is completely irrelevant.

I may have said this before.

Btw, will this Jan be even more difficult to land top class targets, esp. those whose nations are involved in the Euro Champs? I mean, they'd probably prefer to complete the season where they are, rather than having to adapt to a new team/league and risk losing their place in the squad or going into the tournament on the back of poor form?

Winter transfers are usually pretty good for us!

This is our last 6 winter signings .....

Fucking hell make it the last 8!
