I'd agree, to a degree, but we seem to be going for possession football so there may well be alot of games where Kenny feels we can do without, particularly at home. It's the sort of mentality we've been crying out for for a long time when playing at Anfield. United do it enough.

I agree, everytime I've seen him (which admitedly hasn't been a lot) he's been fanatasic. with the quality of adams set pieces, carroll will have a field day.
 
I have to say 7 million is a good deal. I've largely been lukewarm about this, but I do increasingly get the feeling that he'll do well for us. Having said that, I'm concerned that with the plethora of midfielders we now have to choose from, our balance in midfield is going to get slightly distorted.

A major reason for our good form towards the latter half of the season was the well-balanced and functional axis of Lucas, Spearing, and Meireles. I get the strong feeling that Kenny's going to have to experiment and chop and change before he gets the central midfield combination right for next season. If that happens, I suspect we might struggle. For instance, I really can't see a midfield of Lucas and Adam gelling too well. While both of them may be capable of putting a good shift, I really think we need a quick enforcer/terrier type player who's there doing the dirty work and providing the requisite steel in midfield. It's a role Spearing played very well within his limitations last season, and unless we sign a new DM, I really think he should largely be an ever present in our starting central midfield (alongside either Lucas or Adam with either Gerrard, Henderson, or Meireles ahead of them)

One of the best midfielders in the league last year for 7M..... good player and excellent addition in terms of squad depth.

Yep....good deal overall.

He is left footed, a terrific set-piece specialist....so there is quite a few things to like about this transfer.

Now the thing is....imo 2 out of three (Meireles, Aquilani and Lucas) can go, and at least one must go. I would like us to still keep Meireles actually, if possible.
 
I hope people take heart...

Good price, good player - who knows if he'll deffo cut it, but price makes it less risky...

On top of that, it sends the message that we won't be bullied price wise.

Delighted with this news. Classy ball playing midfield player is just what we need. People call say but we've got a dozen other midfield men but we don't have one like Adam.

Prove the doubters wrong Charlie boy.
 
Glad this has gone through, worth a punt he can maintain his form from last year at that price, if he does we may have saved a fortune here in getting a top quality midfielder. Think of the prices paid for Hargreaves, Carrick and Milner and this may be a bargain.

Another real postive is the two young lads getting games at a decent level. They're both good enough to be regular starters at Blackpool and Holloway will have them playing football in the right way.

So all in all, a good bit of business.

Considering we've got Henderson, Stevie, Ming, Aqua, Spearing and Adam AND shed loads of time left to bring in more players, i don't think thats a safe assumption at all.

He's not a glamourous signing but could be pivotal for our set pieces next season. Im happy enough with it....not jumping for joy but its another option. A statistical improving signing from comolli and kenny! Wonder who wanted him more though!
