In fairness Avy, it's kinds hard to critisize the Vikings for running up the score when your lot called two timeouts immediately (I think) before that play... That's also part of the unwritten rule, mate: Not prolonging the inevitable end, if you're "asking" a team to call of the dogs.
Oops, I quiffed. Yeah though.

A few points

1) If they wanted to score, why not take the FG?
2) You're making this seem like it's commong, how come (as per Elias Sports Bureau) it's only the 2nd time in NFL history an NFL team has gone for points in the last minute of a game with a 20+ point lead? The other time being decades before this game
3) I thought the time out issue was at the end of the 1st half - and we had called all our time outs with 5-6 minutes left.
4) I honestly hope the Cowboys have a chance to do this to the Vikings next year, and we don't do it.
I do think that the scoreline flatters the Viklings.
I guess a little - but they deserved to win by at least 3 scores. We just couldn't convert and hence, they deserve it.

I watched the highlights to this last night- what's the problem with 'running up the score'. In football, rugby or whatever game I can think of, you score as many as you can for your fans. Fuck the oppo. What's the problem with this in American footy?

Favre was brilliant, btw, I'd love to see him win the SB.

It's common to most North American sports. You run up the score in ice hockey, there WILL be fights.

And that's when the fun really begins ... A good NHL fight is often times far more entertaining than anything Boxing has to offer!

Why don't the opposition try and stop them running up the score, the fucking lazy twats?

Prepare to be disappointed then, doc. He's not even going to win the NFC.
Yeah- the Saints were amazing. Home advantage may well tell.

Although- and this is coming from someone who is clearly non-expert- the Cardinals pierced the Saints' defensive line repeatedly (it seemed to me), but repeatedly fumbled the fucking thing. I'd hazard a guess that if Rice has the ball in the same positions, the Saints are going to ship points.

Non?

I got no problem with running up the score, it is the defense's job to stop them from scoring. What I have a problem with is the continuous passing after the game has clearly been won. You see Doc, every time there is an incomplete pass, the clock stops, dragging the game out longer. At the later stages of the games, when teams have a big lead, they just run the ball every down, so the clock keeps moving and the game is finished sooner. Now if they are running the ball, and still scoring, oh well, you can't tell your team to stop playing. But, passing like they were is just rubbing Dallas' nose in it, and it will come back to haunt them against the Saints.

In summary, fuck Brett Farve, I always hated him, this just shows he is a classless, piece of shit.

Peut-etre. Depends partly on whether our defensive line decides to show up or not and partly on whether our offense clicks early enough in the game to grab the initiative and prevent Minnesota getting into their stride. IF we're at it on the day, I think we have the better all-round team.

Peterson vs Saints front 7 is the key for the Vikings. If he hits 100+ yards, the Vikings have a good chance to for an upset.

Btw- as to Favre's lack of class. Isn't he closing in on some career pass record or something? He's not got long to hit any statistical targets he wants to hit.

Surely that's fair enough?

Edit: second only to Joe Montana for TD passes in the play-offs. A few against the Saints and he's no. 1. I'd be running up the score too.

Looks like I picked a good time to follow the Jets!!!
From what I had been reading many pundits said the Jets are
a team who could lead a game from the front but not come from behind to win. I thought they showed composure and guts to get the win against SD.

Anyone here give them a chance this weekend??

Sportsmanship, man. Respect for the opposition. Sometimes the other team has a shit night and if you rub it in their face, they have extra motivation in the next meeting.

I do. They have a brilliant, fast defense and their CB is the best in the game. I wouldn't have them as favourites, but they have a shot... I'll certainly be cheering for them - I f@#$ing HATE Peyton Manning and the Colts.

Perhaps it's because you've forgotten more about the game than I'll ever know, but I don't have a problem with the Colts myself. However I'm rooting for the Jets too as I got them in the 6CM sweep, together with my Saints no less.

Saints - Jets Superbowl then, Saints to win. 8)

nfl.com's first mockdraft have berry going at 13. Surprising.
They're assuming (probably correctly) that nobody wants to spend first 10 money on a safety. They usually don't. That said, the free safety is such an essential position now that I can see someone taking him high. Pete Carroll maybe?

Bucky Brooks reckons the Rams will take Suh over a QB, but will consider Bradford. He must have been at the Copydex. Clausen is the best QB in the draft. Bradford gets injured putting his shoes on, doesn't have a cannon, missed loads of the season, and is never ready for the pros. I've never seen him throw outside the pocket. That said, the Redskins will surely need a shot caller, so... And Brandon Marshall is likely to walk from Denver, so why would they take a defensive player? They'll need a replacement. Spiller is quicker and faster than Best. Can't see him sliding down the board very far. Whereas Best might.

There are experts over here putting it at 70% or higher that there will not be any football next season (2011, that is).
