Summer summary 2016

Quite a turn-over so far. 12 (!) players sold or released, including 6 from the first team. 7 new senior players signed. 7 more players remain on likely "sell list" and 1 or 2 might still be signed. We didn't bid for any 100M players this window or had to endure any will-he-stay-or-will-he-leave sagas, like we did in seasons past, but surely it has not been a "quiet" summer.

When we actually had players who other teams wanted.

Bit fucking cheap that we have only spent 20m net.
Fucking Italian teams are spending 75m on players and we are scraping even.

200m a season in this new TV deal.

Surely some more players to come in!?

Updated with Bruno Mars Bruno Martins Indi, a Dutch CB playing for Porto who is quite adept at LB as well. Lots of reports on this in the media, but no mention of a potential price yet.

It's all going on the Main Stand Development ...

Very clever and astute business from the owners..

We will probably see one of two more though, but nothing Stellar..

I'm not overly pleased that we haven't spent more.

If the persistent rumours & articles stating the klopp is happy to wait for dahoud though, that suggests perhaps he wants a team good enough to get us into the cl & maybe then he'll be pushing for the big money knowing he can get top players.

Whilst I'd like us linked with stellar players, they'd almost inevitably turn us down (somewhat understandably) or would demand ridiculous wages that would be hard to justify without the extra income from Europe, & seeing us being turned down or unable to meet wage demands time & again wouldn't do anyone any good, & would damage the clubs reputation too.

Updated with the latest transfers and links.

So far 14 players have been sold or released and 6 more loaned out. I removed Lucas from the potential selling list as it looks like he's going nowhere this summer, but added Sakho. Around 4 more players are likely to leave before September 1st, which would bring the number of departures to whopping 24! I'm sure that's by far the biggest "purge" of LFC squad in the history of the club.

We have bought 7 new players and might yet add an 8th and final purchase if we can agree a deal for one of the Croatian wonderkids (Coric or Pulisic, who is Croatian-American).

Most of the other sites are stating Mane's price as £30m + £4m add-ons, not £34m + £4m and Grujic was actually signed in December not this summer.

So we made a profit of £12-13m (less agents fees) on the summer which if all the add-ons both for and against are achieved will rise to over £20m and reduced our wage bill fairly substantially as well, with 6 players brought in, 15 sold or released and 9 sent on loan - including Allan & Taiwo Awonyi who are not in the list above.

That leaves us with a 1st team squad of 30 :

GK : Karius, Mignolet, Manninger, Shamal George

Defence : Clyne, Gomez, Moreno, Milner, Randall, Matip, Klavan, Lovren, Sakho, Ilori

Midfield : Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Lucas, Lallana, Coutinho, Grujic, Stewart, Brannagan, Chirivella

Forwards : Firmino, Sturridge, Origi, Mane, Ojo & Ings

I'm still Ok with the outcome but it relies heavily on players staying fit and in form.
