The midfield

Fabinho's total isolation there highlighting why Everton were able to break so easily.

We all said how it was a daring, very attacking side, Klopp put out but with Carvalho and Elliott playing where they are used to playing it didn't work out the way it was planned. I'm not sure that Carvalho + Elliott in midfield together will ever work, very creative but at the expense of cohesion.

Also noticeable how we simply didn't get the ball to our forwards anywhere near enough. Obviously, to state the blindingly obvious, with Thiago / Keita in there it would have been a totally different ball game. Maybe even with Melo and if Milner had been played in midfield instead of initially at RB when he came on.

So confirmed we won't see either Keita or Ox this side of the world cup.

Honestly Keita and his agent fucked up big time, he started acting the cunt before the season thinking he was negotiating from a position of strength cos his contract was running out and we had stacks of injuries. He then proceeded to get injured himself twice before he could even kick a ball and now it's likely we won't see him for months. Klopp needs his head checked if he tries to afford him another contract. He's clearly not happy with his role and physically incapable of meeting the demands of playing for us. Cut him loose.

Agreed re Keita.
He was a huge promise when he arrived with that fantastic season he had for Leipzig, which was followed by a good season.
However, he looked out of his depth in the Premier League, and I don't think it's just his injuries. He never seemed to have the physicality nor the pace to make it in the EPL.

And by the way, if I remember correctly he acted like a cunt at Leipzig when he tried to force his move to Liverpool. So I'm not really surprised he acting the way he is now.

The midfield was non-existent against Everton, so it goes to show that the problem runs deeper than just ageing players. As great as Elliott and Carvalho are, we just lack balance in there at the moment regardless of who plays. Or maybe teams just find it easy to bypass because of our set up.

I don't know the answers, but there's something fundamentally wrong when the same glaring issue of being too easily counterattacked is obvious in every single game, regardless of personnel.

We look like we're going to ripped apart every time the opposition attack and we've only come up against one half decent team so far. We're in for some bad results if things stay as they are.

I think we can also starting raising concerns about Fabinho.
He seems to be off too - and we saw it last season too.
That confident DM - who could carry the ball at ease, or pass anywhere - seems a shadow of that player.

[article]Konrad Lahmer has explained why he didn't sign for Liverpool this summer.

The RB Leipzig midfielder was linked with a move to Anfield, however Jurgen Klopp opted to sign Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus instead.

"[Liverpool's interest] wasn't so hot that anything would have happened," Laimer told Bild.

"A hasty departure is not my thing. If I were to change clubs, I would want to think it through and decide calmly, not overnight.

"Especially since the first half of the season is very short anyway due to the World Cup and you wouldn't have had time to settle in and find your feet.

"The Premier League is nice, but for me it's not a must. It's much more important to me: how do people talk to me, what feeling do I have about something."[/article]

cause he is overworked and alone?

Bang on.
That’s the first issue, soon as Thiago and Hendo were injured then we were fucked.
The LFC Midfield has been very underrated in Klopp’s time but it holds the balance to everything we do. It’s hard to say how endemic the issue is without fixing this first.
Still find it mental it took the Hendo injury two days before transfer deadline for us to phone up Arthur’s owners.
It’s clear I don’t understand how football clubs are run still.

[article]Ruben Neves is adamant that he is fully focused on playing for Wolves and will give everything for the club after a summer move fell through.

The star midfielder spoke to the press after the loss to Liverpool on the final day of last season and hinted at his departure, when he said: "Our career is really short and we need to take the opportunities we have. All of us have dreams and we need to live those dreams in a small space of time."

However, a summer move did not materialise and the 25-year-old has stayed at the club.

Now, speaking to the Express & Star, Neves has admitted that his comments in May came as he believed a move was almost done, but that he is now focusing on helping Wolves this season.

"It's football, you never know what will happen in football," Neves said.

"At that time almost everything was ready for me to go, but this is football and you can see I am completely focused on being here.

"What I am doing and what the team is doing since the start of the season means that I am 100 per cent focused on here. I want to keep going and have another great season here.

"I am really happy here, like I always say.

"After the last game last season, I said that we have a short career to follow our dreams, but everyone knows I'm really happy here as well.

"There's no secrets with that. I had a chance to go, I didn't go and I stayed, and I will give 200 per cent for this club because they have given me a lot.

"They've given me the best things I've had in football for now and I want to give everything for them. I will give my best to help the club."

Neves has two years left on his current Wolves contract and the club have been in talks to extend his deal.

Wolves and Bruno Lage hope to convince Neves to commit his long-term future to the club – which will at least guarantee Wolves get the maximum fee if he does depart in the coming transfer windows.

However, when asked whether a new deal was close, Neves said: "There's nothing about that at the moment, I'm thinking about playing and to keep playing the way I am right now.

"We have a long journey to go this season so that's where I will focus myself."

My suspicion is that Keita or his agent tried to pull a move on Klopp/the club either by trying to force a move or to force a contract resulting in Keita declaring himself injured for the Newcastle game.

or maybe I have read too many Ross posts
