.
No way will he be gone, i'll take that bet.
Already taken but you are welcome to contribute to the charity anyway.
I'm still surprised at the confidence in Rodgers, I just don't know where it's all coming from, my pessimism is mainly due to our last couple of managers, our budget, and each man wanting to do his own damn thing every time while leaving a huge mess for the next man to clean up. We shall see...

Now we all make mistakes I know I have but the current trend on radio and with pundits of using "them" instead of "those" is really winding me up.

Talksport have Mickey Quinn, Darren Gough and Ray Parlour who never use "those" ever, sounds awful.

"them types of players" - GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Those three people are all under educated fools that's why.

Oh, that gets me too, along with 'their' 'they're' & 'there'. It's not that fucking difficult!

Though I make considerations if English isn't their first language, obviously.
Agreed. It's astonishing that people can't get 'there' 'their' and they're'. What do you need to understand?

I just believe that pass and move is the way forward. We already have a decent squad and have players in our squad designed for pass and move so we will see the best out of them now. Plus if we can have gerrard and lucas fit for the first 10 games of the season it will be hard to fail.

I'm with you. It's a complete overhaul of the club, based on the vision of one man who has managed Swansea. If the wheels fall off this one we are in serious dog do. Not trying to spread misery or anything like that, just concerned with what happens if we don't get off to a good start, or the players buy into it, then give up on it if results go badly.

Pass and move is great, and it would be great if Liverpool could get back to how we used to play. We never needed a big fucker who was good in the air like St John or Toshak or Aldridge to make it work then so how could we possibly use one now?

Was Aldridge big?

Neither St.John nor Aldo was "a big fucker". They were decent in the air but it wasn't their main attribute in either case.

The thing that irks me most about Newcastle is 35 million was THEIR valuation of him 18 months ago. Ok, we were daft enough to pay it, but at the back end of last season he was back to the form that led THEM to slap that price tag on him.

I'd love it if we announced the price if Newcastle want him is 35 million. Anyone else can have him for 20 million.

It wouldn't surprise me if that's what we've done.

I dunno. I suppose we should just be grateful we're not complete thickos. It's amazing how dim most people are. When my sister was starting out as a trainee at KPMG she had some moneyed cretin from Eton trying to explain to her how to work out percentage differences in year on year figures. 'Frightfully complicated business, this. First you have to know the difference, by taking the small number from the big number. Then you have to divide that.....this is where it gets tricky. Divide that by the small number. No, the big number. Dave? Which is it? Ah, could be either. Crumbs. Apparently you divide it by the figure from the earlier year - you're just going to have to try and remember that, I'm afraid.'

Ha, I deserved that. I have a four year old & 10 month old on my knee with the laptop though, so that's my excuse!

The 'Rogers' instead of 'Rodgers' one is driving me mental.

Take the 'ForceFive' bit off your name, let either one of those two kids type for you - and we'd STILL be better off than we are with the actual Fox.

I don't really understand this bitterness towards Newcastle (over the Andy Carroll fee). I don't think for a minute they believed he was worth £35m. They just saw that Comolli was there for the taking and took him, and us, to the cleaners. Like you say, it's not their fault we were stupid enough to pay it. It was a marvellous piece of business for them, and if the roles were reversed, we'd be singing the owners' praises.

Yeah- they knew we had 50 mill to spend and one day to spend it; I think they also figured out that we were taking the FFP rules seriously and this was a last chance at a free splurge. It was a crazy figure. Whenever Spurs bid £19m or whatever and it was rejected I thought *that* was a crazy figure.

Apologies if this has already been posted...

Andy Carroll deal is out of my hands, admits Newcastle's Alan Pardew

• Pardew keen to bring Carroll back to Newcastle from Liverpool
• Manager 'slightly detached' as owner Mike Ashley takes control

The Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, has spoken of his desire to re-sign Andy Carroll from Liverpool, but admitted that he is "slightly detached" from a decision-making process that will be led by his club's owner, Mike Ashley, and the Liverpool board.
Liverpool have already rejected the chance to send Carroll to Newcastle on loan, and are no more keen to agree a permanent transfer at his former club's current valuation of £13m. Instead they are seeking to recoup at least £20m of the £35m they spent to bring the striker from Newcastle 18 months ago, and negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.
"That whole process is a little bit more involved with the chairman and the board at Liverpool," Pardew told the Newcastle Chronicle. "We've got a great team here, a great squad, and if Andy Carroll comes it'll only add to us."
"It's simple, really. Sometimes transfers are done at corporate level. I'm slightly detached from that. It'll be what it'll be."
Carroll was not in the Liverpool squad who travelled to the United States on Monday for the start of their pre-season tour, but is due to join the team in Boston next week after the conclusion of a spell of extended lead after his involvement in Euro 2012 if a deal for his transfer has not already been concluded.
"It's been said that he's available," Pardew said, "and if we're involved then we'll be involved because of the figures, not anything else, because we know he's good enough. I'm slightly detached from it."

Huh? What did FFP have to do with it?

I believe that transfer window was dubbed the last one not to count before the new FFP rules came into effect, hence Chelsea going mental as usual...

Transfer fees get split up and apportioned over the length of the contract, so blowing the money then really didn't help a lot if that's what they thought. I think we just thought there'd be uproar if no signing was made and we panicked. I said on the fucking night it happened we should just sit on the money til the summer, especially haivng already signed Suarez. We really were utter, utter, fools.

BUT

wasn't there a big thing over us paying it all upfront? Because we're thick like

Yeh there was but that's a separate issue. FFP is all based on financial accounts. Accounts basically try and spread the cost of assets over the relevant period, and for those purposes that's got nothing to do with actual real world instalments (that's a cash flow issue). This spreading is called depreciation or amortisation depending on the type of asset. I won't bore you any more than necessary but here's how it works if you're ever having trouble sleeping: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depreciation

the difference is they have not just mugged another team by selling a striker for £50 million

Newcastle have been set a price and been told in no uncertain terms that 20M is the minimum. Ba + 13M is probably what it will end up. I'd settle for that.

I'm pretty sure that's what was said at the time by people at the club.
