I've long been of the opinion that we should give him time, he's showed promise, we haven't played to his strengths, blah blah blah.

After that dive today, he can fuck right off. Even if he'd won the foul he'd have had a better chance of scoring if he'd have just stayed on his feet than by giving Suarez or Gerrard a pen to mong up.

We will never get anything like what we paid for him back, but does anyone know how much we get if off the insurance if he were to suffer a terrible accident?

I need to watch it again but it looked to me like he just tripped over his own feet with the goal at his mercy...frankly that's probably worse than a dive.

It doesn't make sense for him to have dived in that situation, he had to have tripped surely?

Dunno but if you need any help with that I think you'd get plenty of volunteers on here

It's a disaster. Even if we buy another striker this summer, it further pushes Carroll away from the starting eleven, which means we have the new Winston Bogarde. Everyone will know we'll take airplane peanuts and an empty soda can for him, so they'll just wait around until his contract runs out. It's helpless.

Agreed.

I haven't got the vocabulary to express my feelings about him. He's utterly fucking useless and to think anyone would pay £3.5 million for him is just a joke let alone TEN FUCKING TIMES that amount.

Move him on, take the hit & sack the cunt who sanctioned his transfer. I wouldn't trust him with any significant money ever again.

to be fair to carroll the lead up to his dive/fuck up was pretty excellent. what an idiot, great bit of skill to get into the box, takes the keeper out of the equation and then with the goal at his mercy...

The ball was awkwardly placed under his right foot just as he got past the keeper. At that exact moment there was a hint of him being off balance and that caused him to push the ball a little too far ahead of himself to be comfortably assured of getting to it ahead of the in-rushing defender. I think the combination of the slight stumble, the fact he'd sort of lost control momentarily of the ball and the fact the keeper had rushed out encouraged him go down, with no theatrics it must be said, as though he'd been tripped.

bar the dive, I thought he did ok, he won some headers, showed a decent touch and tried to bring others into play.

He is never going to justify his price tag but if he keeps this up he will become a decent striker who could 10-12 goals a season.

Sadly he will probably be dropped for next game.

Thought KD was wrong to haul him off, he was jeered for most of the game and the roar from the NC fans was crazy at thesub.

Not the best man management for the players confidence

the fact is we bought him with a massive panic buy, we had Torres money burning a hole in our pocket and he seemed to be a decent prospect.

Without the Torres money we would have offered no more than £15 million. Why oh why did we panic to replace nando, that money would have been very handy indeed.

Shite season for our strikers

The problem with this idea is that the things Carroll is doing better, and I quote, "he won some headers, showed a decent touch and tried to bring others into play" aren't want is required in a striker and are not going to bring him any goals. Currently he's offering absolutely no goal threat whatsoever; he doesn't even attaack the box properly. The role he's currently trying to perform is done much better by Peter Crouch [for example] and Crouch had to go to Soke to get regular games. Playing that sort of player in that role, with zero goal threat, has taken us to 8th in the league. I don't think it's entirely coincidental.

I agree with your comment about the man management and bringing him off though. It was humiliating in front of his 'own people' because he wasn't having a bad game in the context of the team's overall performance.

I thought the sub was idiotic tbh. There was no need for it as we were chasing a goal, and we gave the Newcastle fans a chance to destroy his confidence even more.

He is a disgrace for a striker...Watch him, he will win a header and just stand there making no effort to get in the box thats the reason he doesn't fucking score.

He doesn't have a strikers instinct at all, if you think of all the great strikers in fact fuck that decent strikers they put their effort into getting into the box to be in a position to score that useless get doesn't....

I've had it with him, a waste of space and air...sell him!!!

I thought he could produce something over the 2nd half of the season - something to prove n' stuff. He doesn't seem to really care, and doesn't really some to make intelligent runs often enough into the box. I would be happy to sell him for 10-15 mill ... This was a very poor signing.

the type of signing that costs jobs.

He comes back into defence for set pieces and more often than not seems to run away from the flight of the ball and/or lose the man he is marking. What's the point of him being back there if he can't do it.

if kenny is moved on it will be interesting to see if the new manager has faith in carroll or fucks him out the door first chance he gets.

It was clearly not a dive. As he rounds the keeper, he jumps slightly to his right, whilst flicking his left leg towards his right. Then as he comes down on his right leg, the ball is directly below it. Instead of flicking his right leg out of the way, Carroll decides to then kick the ball forwards with his right leg, as he is landing, with both feet off the ground. It was inexplicable what he was thinking, even George Best would struggle to do something like that. He didn't dive, he fell over. It's pretty clear so I don't understand why everyone is abusing him.

- if you watch this from 0:47s, you will see the problem.

"whilst flicking his left leg towards his right" - that was him leaving his left leg trailing as though the keeper had 'taken' it. It's the classic 'trailing leg' stunt seen every week and which has given rise to defenders and keepers faking a tackle/save then withdrawing at the last second so that they clearly make no contact. That's exactly what Krul did.

Did his arms look like this when he hit the ground: Y

Yes.

This is known as the Y pose. It's as sure a dive litmus test as if they roll over more than 270 degrees on the ground.

The only wrinkle is is if someone made contact. This is a subvariation called Y-MTMOI.

But no contact was made so you do the maths.

Wouldn't be surprised if Carroll comes down with the "niggling injury" that kept Bellamy out for a few games since he got subbed against Sunderland.
