Ange Gone?

Which means they’ve all but secured his replacement. It’s a little harsh on Ange, perhaps, but his refusal to compromise on his style or adapt to the squad available is a damning trait in a manager—and ultimately, it showed in their league position. Spuds were dreadful for the second half of the season before last, so that’s 1.5 seasons of poor form. You can see why the club made the decision.

It’ll be interesting to see who takes a punt on him next. He’d actually be a good fit for West Ham once they tire of Potter’s dreary football. They’re in the process of realising he’s just Moyes 2.0. There’ll be a backlash next year and a push for a more attacking coach.

Understandable even if I disagree with it. Typical Spurs, sack the first manager in 2 decades so actually win you something and get a huge monkey off your back.

Will be interesting to see how the players react.

Back to winning nothing and only celebrating Arsenal winning nothing.

They have done worse - remember when they sacked Jose before the actual final he managed to get them to ?

He didn’t win though. Ange bet the house on the Europa league and won.

No be didn't. He lost games he tried to win and was left with one competition. Relegation was out of the picture so the only logical choice was to focus on europa league. He then did, and happily they won the extremely weak competition.

He then acted like it was a plan.

He bet on himself and won.

They lost 22 league games last season. 22. They finished 17th in the league.
Winning a cup doesn't save that season. No chance.

Yeah Van Horseface only failed badly over a 3 month (?) period, Ange has done it for 2 seasons; he is more a marathon failer as opposed to a 100 yard dash failer

Dreamy, defending Ange:

Had a shite squad, joined 1/3 way into the season at a team that was already doomed. Ange has a solid squad, some great players and was in his second season with them. I don't think the comparison is remotely close.

Yeah but Ange was decent in his first season.

Overall his record is pretty terrible but so are plenty of other managers'. It's a bit harsh to say he's clearly the worst.

I think its easily one of the biggest underperformances for a long time. They finished 17th. They got less than 40 points! Its Tottenham!!

They had a fair few injuries to contend with but you can't really excuse away a 17th placed finish.

Spurs won't be wanting to make the same mistake Utd did with Ten Hag though to be honest, that is probably one of the clearest examples of the need for a strong sporting director at a club.

There is no excuse for Utd either btw. Amorim got less points per game then Paul Jewell did with Derby.

Ange and Amorim are both absolutely fucking shite. Both are lucky to still be in a job and they're both lucky being a football manager is the only job where you can fail repeatedly yet still get presentable opportunities at big clubs with big pay.

Right. Injuries are only an excuse that goes so far. We qualified for CL with Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips as our starting CBs!

I'd sack both of them for different reasons but ultimately it's not worth backing either of them in the market. Amorim isn't worth overhaul needed for the 352, meaning it was a doomed appointment from the outset, and Anje thinks defending is a waste of time mate. I actually think he had a greater chance of saving his job. He's had longer sure, but CL money will be a major and unexpected blessing to Spurs, which could have swung Levy and there has been injures. I've no idea what United have seen in Amorim to keep him. Most likely they just do not want to pay the severance costs.

I genuinely think they're just too embarrassed to sack him.
