Ya Levy is a muppet.Which also got him sacked.
Ange might be a lot of things but a liar he isn’t. He’s always been a straight talker and has walked away from roles before for principled reasons. So yes I believe him.Oh please. He tried to win games after they had most of their squad back, and he failed. You actually buy that waffle he was selling knowing he's looking for another job?

Also nobody has ever said he didn’t try and win league games including him. He merely said he prioritised EL when it came to league selections which made perfect sense.

It was a gamble but I’d say it paid off in spades and he deserved the start of next season to see what he could get out of his players now they’ve won something. Winning trophies helps those on the fence buy into a vision.
So qualifying for European football in his first season after losing his star player and backing that up with the clubs first major trophy in 20 years and first European trophy in 40 years, getting the club back into the CL while managing their biggest injury crisis in years is being out of his depth.
Rightio…..
Can this motherfucker of a thread please die now?
Clearly they don’t have the squad depth and protected his players that could to go all out for the EL after the horrific injury crisis that made getting top 5 completely unrealistic. Finishing 8th and no European football next season, no trophy and no money would have been idiotic and would have resulted in him getting sacked vs rolling the dice and getting what he did.

Not even remotely close. They gave him a new contract and spent a shitload on new players. Spurs didn’t have to do either. How did that work for man u with ten hag?
They had the same dilemma

Nice piece but ... "laid the foundations so they won't have to wait another 17 years "?! Hahaha like fuck.
I liked Ange… but he has really lost the plot since January. Injuries or not, a top manager would not allow his team to lose again and again in the same exact way and not make adjustments. Let’s be real - no Premier League team is going to hire Ange after this season. He won’t be on anyone’s shortlist and in fact, I would be very surprised if any team in the top 5 leagues would seriously consider him. More than any arguments about the relative merits of a trophy versus the 17th place finish, this shows the extent to which his reputation has taken a hit.
I think he’s a good man with certain charisma and I’m glad he won something - especially if the alternative was Man U winning the Europa League. But he’s just not a top manager. I recon he’ll go back to Scotland or coach in Greece or Turkey or somewhere similar.
Sniggers.I agree with most of your assessment. But I would not be surprised if he makes it to another job in the PL. He feels a bit like a diet version of Brendan Rodgers in the sense that when they are on a roll, they play some good football and attack very well but when they start slipping, doesn't have the nous to arrest the slide.
I can see one of the promoted sides taking a chance if their current managers are not working out. The manager market feels like number nine market, lot of decent mid level ones, couple of who are looking incredibly promising (Slot being one of them), but there really isn't a pool of truly exciting young managers out there. Ange will get his chance.
