a) there are 37 games to go.

b) manu, arsenal, chelsea man city have to play each other, TWICE.

c) we have to play the above, TWICE.

d) we nearly always start badly, the only difference is last year we gound out results which we can still do.

e) there are plenty of twists and turns in the winter months and final weeks, this is week ONE.

f) we lost this fixture last season so whilst we are not better off we aren't worse off either.

from me? I always try to remain positive until I have no option but to panic, and we aren't quite there, yet.

You're getting closer...

Spurs didnt lose to any of the big 4 last season at home, beating us and Chelsea and drawing with United and Arsenal.

They wont give up points at home again, thats a shit game out of the way.
dito and if it wasn't for the ref we cud of come away with a point..

Bang on neil to get rid of a game like that first is great lets just hope we beat stoke and beat them well, one good thing to day that made my smile from ear to ear was when own missed that sitter ;D
COME ON YOU REDS first to 19 starts now 8)

Just to balance it out:

a) We will drop more points this season in games we should win

b) We're joint bottom 😉

c) We're still inadequate going forward

d) We're without a decent CM

e) Torres wont stay fit for a whole campaign

f) Rafa has already resorted to playing Babel and Voronin

The joint bottom one is in jest, but we can't have this place turning it a happy hug-fest now can we.

look we fell behind all of our rivals by 3pts which is the only important thing. trying to look at past statistics and making philosphpical arguments thats what i call melodrama. just stick to the important facts. 3pts thats all that matters. you know those little points, the things which decide who wins the league

I agree with you. It seems some people think losing 3 points now doesn't matter 'as much' because it's early season. I'd love to know at what point losing starts to 'really' matter.

We got well ahead of Utd last season and still blew it; giving them a head start isn't going to help.

Something akin to 'blindness' I'd suggest.

sorry im trying to be grown up and looking at the mathematics. not things like "there are plenty of twists and turns" or "we always start badly".

we lost and our four rivals if you include city all won. its not like ten years ago where you can lose, but its ok man u will lose next week and we'll be back on even terms. na uh, we are up against four teams for the title and that makes it a lot less probable to get back ahead of them if you fall behind
I must admit, the "we always start badly" argument is annoynig, as if it's ok to do so because we have in the past.
We picked up points in all our early games last season while being below our best
Man utd lost 5 games last season. They scraped a win against newly promoted relegation favourites Birmingham who have 1 of their first choice back 4 fit and 7 players out AT HOME!
We went away to a team who conceeded just 10 goals last season, who beat us then, who didnt lose to united or arsenal and beat chelsea and yeah we played like shit, but our players arent suddenly rubbish, they just played badly.
If united had drawn would you have said their title chance was slipping away? No, so why would you with us, a team who beat them home and away last year, catch a grip Edmond.

if united drew or any of the other teams did then it would have helped a lot. let me ask you something, when can you see us being top of the table? if we were trying to catch one team id turn around and say wait till next week we'll be top. but when i look at it now we wont be top next week. or the week after, or the week after that. then all of a sudden thats a long time to be under the pressure of not being able to afford to drop more points.
Yep hate that scare when he stay down.
The only injury he gets in those circumstances is one of the 'head up his own arse' variety. He needs to stop moping and moaning round the pitch just because a centre half has bundled him over and the ref hasn't given him a fucking free-kick.
