Couldn't be more happy with how that went yesterday, but now I'm up like dead early with a banging head for that flight I lied about.

Anyway, I'm not moaning or anything, he was good in the middle breaking things up, but Gini is getting way too much praise for an amazing display that just didn't happen. He hasn't got a clue in or around the box and fluffed loads of chances.

Robertson is god. No surprise their equaliser came down the left, because Gomez isn't. Whatever Klopp is doing to Ox, keep doing it. He's gone from average to ok to good to essential in like a month. Frim was brilliant from start to finish.

I love this fucking team, and Klopp has and is exactly what I love about football.

The scoreline was flattering to City IMO and that second half spell was fucking sublime... even early on in the season when we had to read threads titled "sack Klopp" I was sure that we are a nifty fucking bunch and I think we saw yesterday just how dangerous we truly are.

Robertson's unending charge after the ball second half was, apart from the fantastic goals we scored, the highlight of the game for me... it said everything... it said FUCK YOU THIS IS OUR HOME GROUND.

Credit to Klopp for playing Lovren with the arm-band too, Yes we have bought a really good central defender but you are not out of a job fellas so get on with it. I'm sorry we didn't finish up 4:1 winners but at the same time, that scoreline is flattering to City even though they are without doubt an excellent team and will be champions. We could have got 6 or 7.

All 4 of our goals were excellent, nice to see the Ox power forward and ping in a beauty, Firmino's Fowleresque lob was insanely good, Mane, who wasn't really having a great game at the time smacking in an unstoppable top bin drive and then Salah... no time to think... just hit it from 40 yards out... Goal.

That was some of the most ecstatic and vicious attacking play I've ever seen, and it wasn't that City were playing "badly", they are a fantastic side bang in form and full of confidence... yeah... Fuck off you Manc cunts... destruction. It wasn't that City were bad, it was just that we were fucking great.

The Karius fuck up was a fuck up but at the same time, it was a genuine rocket of a shot from close range.

Sort out the Goalkeeping situation and let's see what the future holds...

Gotta love that.

Jürgen Klopp on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: "I could not have had kind of an idea of what a good guy he is, to be honest. If you asked me what is better, the football player or the person, I would have to think a little bit about it. He is on a good way and enjoys it."

Van Dijk as captain next season and Oxlade as our vice captain?
Have to say I really like him.

He speaks about it more here.

Gotta love that.

We are gonna take some stopping in Europe

Klopp mentioned that Can was feeling ill before the game, which was a surprise because what a game! I'm still quite optimistic that he'll sign and stay. Can't deny how exciting our project is shaping up.

Pleased for the team to wack City as we did. For all his neck tatts and whatnot, we made a fool of Ederson the crybaby-face.

Why are these your first thoughts after we win a match like that?
Sorry, didn't want to sound like a wet blanket. I was just spent after that game. I swear I've pulled a muscle in my shoulder after the number of times I punched the air after Salah's goal.

Those last 10 mins gave me a heart-attack though, and I'm fucking furious that we nearly let them back in the game.

I still don't know what it means.
If you were Moran imaging it was VVD?!

I think his device auto corrected moron to Moran. And moron isn’t gay but he’d suck of VVD’s pipe or something.

Disappointing to concede so easily and make it so nervy at the end, but fuck me that was awesome.

Anyone got a link to a decent MOTD2 recording (highlights & analysis)? My Sky box failed to record, and I don't get BBC iPlayer over here

For some reason Africans love Guinness beer - most people were drinking it.

They've had breweries in Africa for a long long time. But the story that i recall being told was that they initially marketed it as being good for your sex life. And it took off

I thought Gini was the key to the game - we knew what we were likely to get from the back four and the front three, and we got it.

But i wondered whether Can would be left on his own to deal with City's midfield. Gini put that notion to bed with a big game. Huge workrate, and he was hugely effective in picking up loose balls and getting us back on the counter.

Re Gomez, i think Brizzle said it already but he had some really good monents too. For Bernanrdo Silva's goal for example, he managed to make a great block on Aguero i think, but the ball spun straight to Silva. He is a mixed bag at the minute but he has huge potential

That was the same marketing in Asia as well.
In fact ads here used to tout Guinness Stout as being 'good for you' and there were plenty of hints as to what it was good for

Sorry to dredge it up again as the other thread was locked.
Anyone know which pub it was Agger showed up to for the match?
Just curious :)

Like Klopp said in the interview, Gini was the one instructed to sit and win or pick up anything that got beyond Can and AOC. I think that worked well, which might be food for thought moving forward. But then we've seen Lucas play a similar role in big games before, only to capitulate against the lesser teams. So maybe it's just horses for courses. We need a more specialist deep midfielder, but in the meantime it might be worth considering again.

With lovren being the captain yesterday, it would seem the captains arm band is being passed around like it’s the village bike.

I think it was @rurikbird who mentioned this - that Wijnaldum's possibly going through a transition in the manner of Fernandinho. He was initially an AM, then converted into a CM, and finally to a DM.

Perhaps we'll see Wijnaldum becoming a DM in the long run then?

Good. Let it continue until someone earns the right to retain it.

(Apropos Hendo - for all his problems on the pitch, he deserves some credit for his behaviour as captain off it - he's hit the right note every time he's been called on to speak for the team and the club, and his tribute to Tommy Lawrence and all the ex-players from that era was spot-on in yesterday's match programme:

“On behalf of every current player at Liverpool I would like to pass on my condolences to the family of Tommy Lawrence, who passed away this week at the age of 77.

“I don’t think many of you who are reading these notes will need me to tell you what a great player Tommy was for Liverpool because his status as a club icon has long since been established, but what I can add is that Tommy – and all of the players of his era – are held in the highest esteem by everyone in the current squad.

“It is often said that we are under pressure because of the achievements of past Liverpool teams and there might be some truth in this, but I prefer to look at it another way: what could be better than to be at a football club where Tommy and others set the highest standards for us to follow?

“I wasn’t fortunate enough to know Tommy personally but I was shown a clip of him on YouTube recently where he got stopped on the street by a news reporter and it told me all I needed to know about the type of person he was. If you haven’t seen it, try to look it up because I don’t think you will see many examples of an individual who has achieved so much being so humble and down-to-earth.

“Tommy will be in the thoughts of everyone at Liverpool Football Club today and we hope his family will take some solace from knowing how much he is respected.”
