I don't think that list is to patchy at all tbh, loads of the players on it that I would have loved at Anfield.
I'd also like to know how many other talents that he "discovered" that went to bigger European and English clubs, that wouldn't go to Tottenham. Now that he represents Liverpool, those players will be interested aswell. We still hold an enourmous appeal out there.

We'll have to agree to differ then. There are a number whom I'd have been OK with, but not a single one - apart perhaps from Jonathan Woodgate IF he'd been fit - that I'd have "loved" to sign.
I'm sure we do still have some appeal, but we'll have to get winning titles again before it becomes enormous.

Assou-Ekotto and Bale? They piss all over our current left flank. Or indeed any left flank that Liverpool have had in the last decade.

That's more a comment on the dross we've been carrying than it is on those two. They're players I'd have been happy with, but not (for my money anyway) in the "loved to sign" category. Bale is flavour of the month now, but that's a very recent development (and one which he's yet to prove he can sustain).
