As I posted previously from last season, he scored against virtually all the top teams we played from City to Real Madrid.I think ironically he’s best served starting our hardest matches. Away to top teams who will give us space and he’ll continue to be a great threat.
If Salah wants to be our main goalscorer still and hangs on the shoulder of the LB, as if he had the pace of 5 years ago, Darwin won't get too many goals.
If Salah mixes it up and becomes more of a playmaker, as he did for that 2nd goal today, and allows Nunez the space to run in behind their LB, then Darwin could score 16-20 goals this season.
I love when strikers don’t take a touch when running onto a through ball but instead angle their run to catch up with it and finish with their first touch - watching Suarez taught me how effective that can be. No matter how good your touch, you always lose valuable time and taking a touch is usually a trigger for the goalkeeper to come out and cut the angles, making the conversion more difficult. More of the same please, Darwin!
Cracking pass from Salah too, obviously. So well-weighted.

Really envy these people in the stands. This was comparable to some of Origi’s late winners.
I think I’m becoming a super-fan 🙂 Such is the magic of the Darwizard!
