Apparently about to sign a new deal with the club after impressing Jurgen Klopp with his attitude..

Do you think he deserves it ?

His deal runs to 2020 so we might well be protecting our investment, who after all, is still only 23. We have all seen a very good player in flashes, and that UEFA cup-run year, he looked excellent, but there's no way we can rely upon him to be the top quality understudy we need.

Yes, given he has pace and can score goals, i think we need those types of players who are also willing to sit on the bench, otherwise we are looking at man city / chelsea level wages to find the quality plus be happy while we dont play you type player.

I don’t think anyone would have too many issues with him staying if he’s 5th or 6th choice for our front 3.

I've always liked him - and thought he could be a good player ... His attitude is brilliant, and he has gone through some shit luck. He's been a pretty decent impact sub in the run in, and I think he's partially been rewarded for that, and also as Doc has said, in case we do want to move on from him.

I dont see any way that he becomes a first team player, we will most likely bring in another forward this summer and Brewster will be back next season. If hes happy to be 3rd/4th choice on reasonably low wages then fair enough but I suspect he will move on, hes got more ambition than that, hes only started 3 games this year.

If its to protect his value and extend his contract by 2-3 years then I'm all for it. But, on similar wages. He hasnt done anything to deserve an increase.
Bar the goal against Everton of course. That is alone worth a sign on fee.

He's a decent option from the bench, and has been an effective option this season, and importantly has positively affected games, so why not?

Would still like a top quality four option for the front three, I'd like the four option to be much better than Divock.

It's hard to imagine Brewster not becoming one of the first sub attackers next season, so this is essentially making him 5th choice minimum.

Ideal world we get a top quality backup in for the front three & the two of them are behind whoever that may be. If Origi is our sixth choice I'll have no complaints.

He's doing a great job when he's coming on recently, not flashy or overly impressive but working his arse off & creating loads of problems when he runs at people.

He hasn't got a tonne of skill or talent but that pace & power that he does possess he's putting to great use, & seems to have enough game intelligence to create problems in the right place.

Yeah, he'll never be more than a sub and we could do much better, but if he's happy to stay on that basis then I'd keep him. He does well when he comes on, but I doubt he'd ever be a permanent feature in a big side - unless he has some kind of Drogba-esque late bloom thing.

I think that his attitude, the way he's clearly learning from Klopp, plus his strength & pace means that they think there is at least a chance of further improvement, hence the contract.

He certainly has a lot of the attributes required, but it's hard to imagine him improving massively at this age.

I suppose the one thing in his favour is he hasn't had a lot of top flight competitive games for his age, so it could be argued the scope for improvement is greater than his age suggests. I doubt it though.

Not convinced that we can't find anyone better. Problem is, it's going to be expensive.

He's not good enough to play for Liverpool

Ah so there's hope then.. you said that about Frim....

Origi is younger than Frim was at the time.. He is 23... plenty of room for improvement..

If he can get back to the levels of a few years back.. we could have a decent player on our hands..

That injury followed by his attitude I think scuppered his development, good to see he has turned things around in that regards..

We need a replacement for frim, to allow rest, injuries.. etc...

I expect though we wont see any incomings as a striker, Brewster will replace studge.. Origi.. contract extension and Frim

Divock has a lot going for him, he's quick, agile, strong a decent shot, problem is, he isn't that smart on the pitch and he's a bit clumsy on the ball.
A bit like Heskey really.

Sign him up so we can sell him

The problem with a contract extension is that we've already tried this - he's been on loan and didn't have the best of seasons, we tried to sell him last summer and nobody wanted to pay the money.

Is this summer or next going to be any different? Unless he goes out on loan and scores 15-20 goals, nobody is going to meet our 30M asking price.

If I was Origi, there's no way I'd be signing an extension.

I could be wrong, but I think Wolves offered 22m last Summer and Origi turned down the move.
