Have only just read the article on Onside.dk translated from the original piece in Liverpool Echo.

Agger is defnitely leaving according to the piece and as Leverkusen apparently has bid in the region of £9M the club should've accepted. (Will be re-united with Sami then).

Bugger, if true.

Daniel Agger on his way out

The German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen has allegedly presented 82 million kroner on Daniel Agger.

Daniel Agger expect even with being in Liverpool, but parts of the English press is not entirely in agreement with the Danish national team player. Liverpool Echo newspaper, so head on the block, and sends midterforsvareren away from Anfield. Perhaps to the German Bundesliga. It recounts sport. dk.

Daniel Agger plages simply by too many injuries, and therefore he should not be a part of the Liverpool squad for the upcoming season, believe the newspaper to know. And the pantograph to the elegant Danish Defender is ready out there. Two German clubs and a Spanish reported as interested, and one of these should already have made a bid for Liverpool.

-A player who leaves the Club with certainty is Daniel Agger, after Bayer Leverkusen is alleged to have presented the entire 11 million euros (82 million kroner, ed.) for the Danish defenders, who are also members of the Hamburger SV and Malaga have udtrygt interest in, writes the Liverpool Echo in the columns.

Daniel Agger has been the Liverpool player since January 2006, when the English tradition the Club captured him in Brøndby.

If true

I'd sell him for £9m, we'll never get that for him again. Top player but he spends half the season injured so what's the point?

Re: Daniel Agger on his way out

Well if 82 million Kroner is any more than £6m we should take it

regards

get rid. hopefully we'll get someone decent in as a replacement

He'll probably stay healthy now too ... Good luck to him ... A really good player, just couldn't stay healthy with us.

Has some of you Liverpudlians seen todays paper-issue of the ECHO?

I can't seem to find their story online?

I agree.

He's so unreliable we will need to get another centre back in anyway. Might as well have more money to spend on one.

Shame, because he could have been good for us

I'm surprisingly alone in my stance with regards to Agger on these boards.

*winks*

He's been an expensive player due to injuries yes but still easily one of the best we've got when fit. So unless we are actually heading towards bankruptcy I'd be far more tempted to keep him and keep everything crossed that he manages to saty fit as we'd then be a better team.

Cash in on Skrtel and the Greek and buy a Sami-clone. He can then play alongside Carra when Agger's out and Kelly could be 3rd/4th choice. That's how I'd do it.

defensive stability is more important that a perma-crock who *might* come good. I'd much rather bin him off and get a solid CB who will play a majority of games for us

Forget it, Kristian. Waaaaaaaaay too many ifs and buts to make that even remotely a good idea.

In an ideal world Agger would have stayed fit and we'd have seen the best of what is undoubtedly a very good player. As it is, £9 mill.or even close to it is a good fee which - unless his health suddenly improves about 675% - nobody will ever offer for him again.

The only thing that has, and could continually, stopped Agger from becoming one of the top CB's in Europe is his fragility. I wish him luck and Leverkeusen are getting an absolute bargain if he stays fit but I think now is the time for us to let him go and find someone more reliable.

Kris mate, he's never ever fit. Good player when he is but that's for like 3 weeks a season.

Look at it this way.

Skrtel IMO is not good enough to be playing week in week out in a top-tuned Liverpool-team. He's not good enough.

That means even if he's not sold we'd need at least one new top defender - one who is strong in the air.

This new lad will play alongside Carra (or Agger if we keep him and he stays fit) and then Kelly would be 4th coice. No buts and ifs and we'd have a better crop of defenders than what we've got now simply because one isn't good enough albeit more or less always fit.

skrtel played every league game this season and didn't do that badly

he's prone to a mistake but he's a no nonsense defender. i don't get why he's not good enough

It's ruining his career I know mate. But there's still hope.

And as he did manage 25 games last Season and is eager to prove everyone including himself that he can stay fit he should get another Season. The lad's still only 26-years-old so if he somehow should come good we'd have a world class defender for the next ten years. Don't forget Sami was almost as old when first arrived.

Agger, if he goes, will be a terrific player in the bundesliga. He will be a legend. He has been very very stupidly good for us on occasions but he didn't bring it consistently...that's the truth.

I will wish hime well, and I hope we go out and get a top draw centre-back...Subotic or Hummels would be great!

No-one denies Sktrl isn't good enough mtate but you're using a different argument point to cloud the real point of debate and that's Agger's fitness. Since Sept 2007 he's been injured for about 20 months. He IS a better player than Sktrl or Soto but the fact that he never plays negates that argument. It's like having a Ford and a Ferrari but the Ferrari keeps breaking down within minutes of you driving it. Eventually you have to trade it in and in the meantime rely on the Ford because at least it gets you somewhere even though it's really not in the manner you want to be travelling.

Look this is why we have got a debate on the forum alright. One thinks player Y is good whereas another thinks he's not good enough. Skrtel is not in any way a convincing defender IMO and there's no real key strength or ability in him either. Fair enough if you disagree mate that's how I see it.

Agger or no Agger.

For the love of God, someone ban KHL.

Just press the ignore button.

I love Agger but it is probably a good idea to sell him for 9 million and bring someone of similar quality who is not perma-injured for a few million more, say Cahill for 15 million.

He played 1551 minutes last season. The equivalent of 17 full games
