We won't find a better ball playing defender than agger (when fit) for that price. I'm with khl for this, give him another year

When (in all likelihood) he will have had another patchy season mottled with injury, be another year down the line of his contract, have wasted a year of us bedding in a CB replacement into this side, and attract a substantially lower fee? Hmmmmm, doesnt sound great.

And anyone who thinks that weve actually taken 7m for Ngog, and it isnt simply a figure to appease the Mackem fans, is retarded.

9m for a mouthy sicknote (albeit quality) centre back, is great business.

I really think people on these boards are overdoing Agger's 'mouthiness' to be honest.

Yeah he's been vocal a few times in the press, often in desperation, but please it's not like he's always beeing a bitch about it.

He's never missed a chance to tell everyone how much he loves the club and the city and is always getting stuck in for team-mates as well. Why don't you guys focus on that instead eh?

His latest interview from the official.

Agger: I have more to give LFC

Daniel Agger has outlined his determination to return to pre-season training for Liverpool in stronger condition than ever before.

The Denmark defender missed the final weeks of 2010-11 after sustaining a knock to the tendon behind his knee during the 2-1 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on April 2.

Overall, injuries and illness restricted Agger to just 21 appearances during the campaign and he admits to being a frustrated spectator as his teammates displayed signs of resurgence under Kenny Dalglish.

However, he's worked industriously at Melwood to ensure he's in peak condition to begin pre-season training in July.

Agger told Liverpoolfc.tv: "The injury is coming along okay. It's been really hard the last few weeks, especially when I was on crutches, in a brace and couldn't move.

"I am definitely confident I can come back stronger.

"I know I say this every time, but I have really done everything this time to make every single muscle in my body stronger and I have done everything in the right way.

"If I could do something to make sure I wouldn't get injured again, I would do it no matter what it was.

"Of course, it's always frustrating to be injured, no matter if the team is playing well or poorly.

"There is nobody who is more frustrated than me, but I just have to focus and stay positive."

Agger has suffered more than his fair share of injury setbacks since arriving on Merseyside from Brondby in January 2006 - but the 26-year-old is aiming to put past experiences to good use and ensure he takes every step possible to make certain he's right to return.

"The important thing for me is that I have pre-season to look forward to and I am not in a rush now," said Agger.

"That's been the problem the last few times I have been injured - I've been in a rush to get back. I'd come back early but would get a new injury.

"It's really good for me now that I have all the way until pre-season to get ready."

Agger admits the road to full fitness can sometimes be a lonely one, though there is one thought that has kept his spirits up.

And he's relishing the prospect of a starring in a bright future for Liverpool under Dalglish.

He said: "The toughest part of being injured is trying to stay positive.

"It is nothing compared to being on the pitch at Anfield - being outside is a lot worse and a lot harder.

"I appreciate playing football more. I really, really enjoy playing now.

"I have always enjoyed football, but you appreciate it more when you have been out injured so much. You just enjoy every little minute on the pitch, both in training and in games.

"The memory of the games I've played and thoughts of the future are what have kept me going.

"I know I have a lot more to give to this club if I can keep fit."

I like Agger and I also like his honesty and love for the club but he's barely playing because of his injuries. It's hard not to like Agger especially after elbowing Torres in the face and complaining about Hodgson but it feels like it's time for him to go.

We do, and if you did as well you'd know he only says it when he's broken.

A fully fit Agger would be like a new £25m signing for us because he's that good. I would prefer us to sell him because I now don't believe he'll ever play 30+ league games in a season.

With, potentially a very good summer transfer window, a fit Agger on top COULD be enough to see us challenge for the title.

Tony The Moany Pony.

Agger being mouthy or not doesn't bother me much tbh, the really depressing thing about him is that when fully fit and on form he's a twenty million pound defender.... and yet because he so rarely is fit and on form loads of us would happily take 8M for him...

As a player i really like him but his career isn't moving on due to injuries.

KHL mate - Agger SHOULD be saying things like how much he loves the club and how he's going to work hard for the team etc.. that's what we expect. What we don't expect is, the minute he comes back from his latest injury of the moment, that he starts moaning and talking about "assessing his future at Liverpool" if he doesn't get an immediate place in the team. It causes issues and it's completely contradictory to the good things he says. He's worse than a woman at times, only more fragile.

i wouldn't say sunderland have definitely accepted a £7m valuation of ngog (i'd put it more at £4-5m personally, working on the assumption that they'd have settled for £17-18m cash), but it's equally 'retarded' to suggest that it's a sound method of appeasement because it's just as offensive to their fans that they've 'spent' £7m on ngog as it is palliative that they 'received' £20m for henderson.

you only have to look at their messageboards to see that: it's not the '£20m' they're thinking about.

He loves the club so much he went on hid an injury, went on international duty and got injured. Twice.
[/quote]
Not pretty I'd say. But he hardly planned it?

Anyways, we'll see what happens.

O-oooooo-kay; so, with that valuation (4m) why do you state in a previous post that 9m for Agger isnt fantastic if you consider the 7m grossed for Ngog? That makes no sense.

Also, youre wrong. Its a fantastic method of appeasement.

Look at every transfer in modern football and what gets quoted? The big figure.

Do people dig into "but Nunez contributed 2m of that", "but thats the figure after CL qualification, 50 league appearances and international recognition" etc, etc, etc? No.

They say, "fucking hell, we paid 20m for Robbie Keane".

in the previous post i almost put inverted commas around the £7m for ngog; i didn't because i thought i'd be pulled up on it and have to explain why and i found that a boring prospect, and also i thought there was little chance of someone (reasonably) challenging the notion that we really got £7m for ngog. i thought i'd get away with it, basically.

i used the £7m for ngog example as a comparison to £9m for agger because it's an example of a brilliant deal: i don't see that it really matters whether or not it's actually true or not. just because it might not be true doesn't mean it couldn't be true - there've been plenty of transfers in the past i could've used to make the same point...£6.7m for pennant, for example. the ngog deal was just a convenient recent example.

we'll have to agree to disagree on the appeasement point. i saw a thread on a sunderland board and a huge percentage of posters were outraged about the overall deal, specifically regarding the £7m 'spent' on ngog.
