Henderson

He's got a great touch and a good eye for a pass. He just needs to trust himself a bit more. And he seemed quite ballsy today. Let's hope it's the start of something new.

I thought he played really well today. He came on and made a positive impact on the match. If only he was a couple of inches taller for that header...

Glad to see he's played well today.

Missed the match today 'cause of Rugby. I haven't seen us play 90 minute in 4 weeks. Where's best to download them from?

I still don't see it . Hope i'm wrong like but bar one goal it says alot that one decent shot and one decent header are the most he's produced . For £16m i'd expect more . I don't think he has the balls or drive to ever be a consistent top player .
I hear your concerns but look at like this - how many players can take a shot like that on and force a great save out of the keeper?

Not that many. And what's more is we know it wasn't a fluke.

At this point I'm not quite sure what we spent 16M quid on because there hasn't been a whole lot to go on but there are some signs of encouragement at least.

Cheers for that Stu. He seems like a nice guy and its obvios the talent is there. He'll get better and better as the season progresses.

Love the banter between the lads and Andy Carroll seems like nice lad aswell.

Andy seems a great laugh i reckon. i'd love to know him.

RE: Jordan. He doesn't drink at all i read somewhere. HE's a proper clean cut lad living his dream

So some people think Lucas 'wasn't bad' yesterday.

Hahahaha. That is a fucking ridiculous statement. He was shockingly bad, he must have lost the ball at least half the time he touched it & made the usual mistimed pointless tackles.

It's no coincidence that we outplayed them in second half after Lucas went off.

I'd say we generally outplayed them in the 1st as well
Quite
I saw some stats at half time and it said Lucas had the 3rd worst pass percentage on our team

Is he not allowed a bad game every so often?

Hasn't he been consistently good for about 18 months? Why not recognise this?

So you're saying just because an attacking midfielder in Henderson came on and played well last 25 when the game was wide fucking open, he should be starting ahead of Lucas? Utter madness.

Didn't Lucas play against United at Anfield last season when we dominated them even more than yesterday or is that totally forgotten about?

Lets be honest here, if Lucas was Scouse he would be treated completely differently. People can't seem to accept he's improved massively from his first season with us when he was a 20 year old kid from Brazil adapting to a new Country, Culture, Brand of Football etc.

Fucking pisses me off no end.

Bollocks would I treat him differently if he was Scouse. One of the only things me & Krump differed on during the game was he thought Spearing should have come on & I didn't cos their midfield was set up for height & strength so we'd be non-existent in the air.

Your comment about Henderson swapping for Lucas is amazing, everyone is saying that. Henderson effectively swapped for Stevie, & Stevie swapped for Lucas, as he played DM (or as close to it as he can).

I didn't say he cant have a bad game, but he did have one, he was fucking shocking & deserved to go off, but apparently cos he was good against them last time he should be allowed to be fucking awful & we cant say anything about it?

I do accept he's well better than when he first came, but this season he hasn't been, his touch is poor, his passing is appalling & his tackling a liability. Adam's tackling is about the same level, but he offers so much more going forwards it makes up for it.

Lucas only got back to Melwood Friday morning.
He has been consistently okay at worst this season and at times good to very good.
If he wasn't ready to play yesterday then he shouldn't have started but it may have been the reason why he was so poor.

Henderson in a central role is going to become a monster for us.

Defo got a big future.

He should start in the middle of the park with Adam and Gerrard for the rest of the season. Simple as that.

i'm unconvinced with that formation for long spells. He got 20 odd min there where it seemed to do well. Gerrard was quite immobile in his role as DM, Adams fitness is continually questioned and henderson is a gamble to play there continually.

Hendo can be great, but to bin off our DM is a risky move. We'll see how it works out v norwich.

If he plays that midfield

You said it's no coincidence that we dominated possession when Lucas went off, and Henderson came on and i merely pointed to the fact that in the same fixture last season we dominated the entire match with Lucas in the team.

Did i say because he was good against them last season he's allowed to be awful? He had a bad game, i'm not denying that but it happens and it shouldn't overshadow the vast majority of his impressive performances in the last 18 months or so.

I'll have to disagree with on your view that his touch has been poor, his passing is appalling and tackling is a liability. I think that's bullshit but each to their own.
A little stat from twitter: LucasLeiva87 has been anchoring the #LFC midfield this season and has won 96% of tackles he has attempted so far.

I honestly believe that if Lucas was Scouse, and not Brazilian, he'd get more leeway by Liverpool fans. That's just my opinion. One bad performance out of say 20 and the knives are out.

I haven't him do very much at all but its clear he should be played in CM or not at all.

He should have gotten that header on target.

He also reminded me of Alonso in the no 14 shirt. Perhaps because he looked slow in the middle.

Aye Henderson isn't slow by any means. Dunno why people think he is.

Anyway, i'm sure he'll be a good player for us. Just needs time and eased into the team gradually.

There's something very endearing about him, seems like a great lad.

Again...how is Henderson slow? Am i watching a different player?
Maybe it's just the lack of intensity he shows when chasing the ball down compared with Kuyt, Lucas, Downing and anyone else in the middle.

He looked very sluggish from that point of view anytime I've watched him.

I put that down to him not being 100% fit. I don't think he's injured or anything, just that his fitness levels aren't all that.

The Arsenal match was a great example. He could barely move in the last hour.

PEACHEO !

SOMEONE GET THE GIF.

Damn it's too late.

if gerrard, henderson and adam can effectively shield the defense then I'd like to see lucas dropped because he just isn't going to give anything going forwards, admitedly it's not his 'job' but we are scoring so few goals we need as many goal threats on the pitch as possible.

Exactly. He isn't good going forward - stock phrase to use about most crap players. Adam won the free kick, Gerrard was far better shielding the defence, Henderson finally looked like a player. They'd no room for crap like Lucas if they're all fit
