Im confused by this press angle regarding why Suarez is being given penalties.
The suggestion seems to be that he sometimes dives.

Ok. So sometimes he should get booked right?
If he dives 9 times out of 10 he should be booked 9 times right?
The tenth time is a penalty.
It shouldnt matter how many times he has dived. If its a pen its a pen.
The referees job is to apply the rules, not in any way to assume he knows what has happened.
I really am struggling to understand the suggestion that if he wasnt a diver the ref WOULD have given a pen!!!?
Thats extraordinary isnt it!? The suggestion being that referees arent applying the rules impartially based on what happens in front of them.
I didnt see the aftermatch press junkets but I really hope Mr Rodgers went apeshit over that penalty decision and that lad Barnetts two footer.

Good post.
Was delighted to see Fergie fuming against Spurs when they didnt get their token penalties.

Referees end up factoring in a whole bunch of other completely irrational information to fill in for the limitations of subjectivity and or their own incompetence in a game where it is known that simulation exists. There are ways to resolve this and they will go unexplored for years and years more.

Referees and the FA hate us, well hate Suarez and have an agenda. There is no other explanation when decisions go against a team and individual so much. It's beyond ineptness.

THE. WORLD. IS. AGAINST. US.

Any idea why Fergie said they didn't get a single decision today, Chief?

I noticed Halsey made two more bad decisions today too. And again, it hindered another of United's big rivals. See a pattern here?

I can't believe anyone really thinks this is a penalty ... more simulation quite obviously:

that's how it should be, in an ideal world. It's wrong, and I don't like it, but his reputation does, sadly, precede him. We all know that refs make mistakes, and are all human, and as such, are susceptible to having slight preconceptions with regards to certain players. Whether the guy is a diver or not, if it's a pen, it should be given. But he's cried wolf so many times that he does indeed have a rep. Someone should have taken him to one side and told him that refs would inevitably be a little biased in their judgement towards him as a result of his diving and theatrics.

It ain't right, but it happens. Which is being proven at the moment, and he's paying the price, along with us. Essentially, if we know he'll get a rep and get decisions against him as a result, don't dive so often. It may not be right or fair, but we'd have had a few more pens go our way as a result if he hadn't got his rep. Hopefully, the fact that there have been a few refs mistakenly go against him over the last few games will highlight the fact and maybe things will change with regards to the refs' treatment of him.

Was informed my a scum fan this afternoon that "as a known diver, he'll never get the calls now. Just like Ronaldo. Or Nani".

Erm... ok?

Tbf Nani wasnt given one against Spurs and it looked like he was pulled down.

There are plenty of known divers who still get decisions.

Half of the Chelsea and Scum teams spring to mind. Suarez has become more than that, he's the pantomime villain

I don't think Suarez actually dives that much. Not now anyway. He's a moany fucker, sure, but this season it was generally the defender genuinely at fault. Witch hunt successful.

Also, I don't know if it's just me but whenever I hear the opposition start to sing the "know what you are" song, my blood starts to boil. Glad Norwich supporters got it shoved down their throats yesterday but unfortunately that doesn't happen often enough.

Such a lazy, shit song.

The best thing about yesterday was Suarez fluffing the one-on-one, and getting jeered massively by the Norwich fans. Only for him to pinch the ball from their defence 30 seconds later, smash it in, and then go and celebrate in their faces. Brilliant. Made me lol a lot.

Still, at least they'll all be singing it to John Terry now as well, eh?

I agree.

For me the vast majority of the shit storm surrounding Suarez began in the first home game last season against Sunderland, blatantly taken down in the box no pen awarded it riled him up something rotten, in the following weeks he made a point of asking for everything, getting narkier and narkier, was it stoke away in the league cup when he was accused of being a major diver and then Fergie started sticking his oar in? Press lapping it up seeing as he is foriegn ear biting handballing cheat etc etc..

The refs defo started ignoring his appeals and it just got worse and worse....some of the commentary on him was just unbelievable, then of course came Evra and now, whether fair or unfair,he is considered to be an utter wanker in opposition fans eyes and I honestly do feel that refs are a little less "impartial" when it comes to him.

All that aside it is a refs duty to be a fair judge and I thought yesterday was truly scandalous.
