It's confirmed...

Gylfi Sigurdsson to leave Tottenham Hotspur and return to Swansea City
• Midfielder to join Swansea in straight swap

Swansea City are expecting a busy 24 hours in the transfer market with Gylfi Sigurdsson returing to the Liberty Stadium from Tottenham Hotspur in a straight swap with Ben Davies and two other deals also going through. Michel Vorm is set to follow Davies to White Hart Lane in a separate transfer while Jefferson Montero, the Ecuador international, is expected to complete a £4m move to Swansea.

Negotiations with Spurs were being finalised on Monday night after several days of talks which paved the way for Sigurdsson to undergo a medical with Swansea. Davies moves to White Hart Lane to become the club’s first-choice left-back. Brendan Rogers was also approached by Spurs, with a view to taking the Icelander on loan but Rodgers said he was too busy planning his Champions league Expedia reservations

Spurs had proposed a straight cash deal for Davies, valued at close to £10m, but Swansea were keen to try to bring Sigurdsson, who has also been the subject of interest from Crystal Palace, back to the club where he excelled while on loan in the second half of the 2011-12 season. Sigurdsson has expressed significant regret to friends, and family, that he chose Spurs over Liverpool in 2012.

That's what you get for being a greedy bastard, he blew his one real shot at a massive club, that'll never come around again.

I know BR went in for him @ a time when we were not in Europe, but this keeps the nagging question alive about how good the Committee is for assessing targets

There are players out there who perform at a high level when they have the right manager in their heads giving them instructions. I suspect he is one of them, and had he joined us - his story would have been different. He fucked himself.

If he could manage that, there's an alternative career waiting for him.
