Salah injured at Afcon

Mohamed Salah was substituted due to a suspected hamstring injury during the first half of Egypt's Africa Cup of Nations match against Ghana at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Thursday.

The Liverpool forward pulled up while attempting a run in the 45th minute, and sat dejectedly on the turf awaiting treatment, before being replaced.

He'll not be heading back.
As if the club is going to go against his will. It's his dream to win the AFCON for Egypt and he's already lost two finals.
If they by some miracle manage to make it to the semi final that's two and half weeks away, he'll be there.

Ok screw all this Mo talk, - what's the latest on my boy Curtis ? - is he injured bad or was it just for precautions that he was taken off ?

Dude even the medical team have no clue at the moment.
He won't be risked on Wednesday though that's for sure.

Well they need to patch him up for Wednesday ASAP. He needs to be risked, and and can miss the FA Cup game next weekend.

Speaking after the Cape Verde game, which the Egyptians drew 2-2 to qualify for the last 16 with Salah in attendance, Rui Vitoria (Egypt's manager) said: "I want to take this opportunity to clarify things.

"Mohamed Salah has an injury, which we learned before this game was a longer-term injury than we first thought, so we have had to prolong the amount of time before he can play again."

"Before the game we did not want to say anything. Meanwhile, everything was in the control of our excellent medical team," he said, indicating that it made sense for Salah to go back to Liverpool given the Egyptian squad will now be leaving Abidjan in any case to play a last-16 tie in the city of San-Pedro.

"Given we were going to have to travel, given the temperatures, given that we were going to be going to a different city, maybe it makes sense that Salah should have a place he can go to recover as quickly as possible," he said, while expressing annoyance at Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

"We didn't want to alarm anyone. I didn't think it was right for Liverpool, via any intermediary, to speak about this, because we had a tremendously important game today," he said after Klopp suggested on Sunday that Salah would return to Anfield for treatment.

"Salah has always been with us. Now this game is over we will find the best solution for the treatment of the player. These are the facts. This is the situation," said the Egypt coach.

I think we probably should target the Man City game - after Chelsea & Arsenal we have a few “easier” games.

and when Trent is back? Fuck off Joe, we're letting Robbo who's been away for 4 months take your spot.
Imo Gomez has been better than Robbo this season
I think Robbo will get some minutes to ease him back in. Gomez has become the Millie in being to play anywhere. He still runs the risk of being injured so will need rotation.

Totally agree regarding rotation, but Gomez should stay as our main guy. Unpopular opinion here, but I think he wants to play in the EURO's.
