I am thinking exactly the same, if there is anything FSG like to do is keep a player on cheap wages and let him go when his contract is over on a free - especially when the player cost them only 35M and has given like over 4 years of service. I think they are more than happy to do that, and to be honest - I have become used to players been let go on a free at this club.

It's not genius keeping Konate who basically everyone in Europe is willing to buy for at least £70 mill when you can buy Huijsen for £50 mill to replace him.

We would lose a lot of aerial presence at the back of we lost Konate for Huijsen. That's not to say we shouldn't try, I just don't think it'll work as a like for like change

That is true also, but if comparisons to other defenders of his class he is well short then we really should do our best to get it right.
That's certainly a factor and I'm not saying the club should refuse to negotiate. Nor do I think they will, as I'm sure they know what an asset Ibou is.
