Liverpool related transfer speculation

He has to agree to that though. If I was him I'd be happy to stay with this group, get paid a good wage, and hope I got onto the pitch enough to qualify for another PL or CL medal (or FAC or LC).
He is surplus to requirements and if we get anything close to £15m we will have done well

if he is 15

Unless we’re going all Epstein, we can’t sign him until he’s 18 anyway - otherwise we’d be running an international child trafficking operation.

Sponsors tend not to like that sort of thing.

Just to clarify, kids can sign pro terms at 17.

Is there not some FIFA rule about signing kids from different continents under the age of 18?

Edit : Yeah there is - apart from specific circumstances like family relocation, within EU, within a certain geographical distance to a border and residency rules - the FA seems to have ratified this into its own rules in Article 19.

Yes, but clubs can often get around those rules. But for kids already on the books, they can sign pro terms at 17. It was usually the case that we’d give them a relatively low salary for 2-3 years at 17, and any really good ones would get a new deal at 18. I think, from memory, that they still needed parent / guardian to counter-sign at 17 but at 18 they didn’t.
We’ll see pics of Rio singing his first pro deal later this month. I thought it was Rio we were talking about.
With the other kid, they’ll make up some shit about his family moving to the UK for work / study and then we’ll sign him while he’s here. Those FIFA rules are about preventing trafficking of young, vulnerable kids, when their families come too they tend to turn a blind eye.

Yeah that’s what Article 19 literally states - it refers to international transfers - getting the parents to move too from Senegal would be the only way round it - but isn’t there also restrictions about paying the parents, etc.

Anyway - he’s not 17 until next Christmas either.
