Rooneys game has just changed so much over the past decade it's impossible to really judge one way or another.

The 17 year Old Rooney would beat 2 men and rifle it from 20 yards. He lost that explosive side very young, in my opinion but grew into a much more complete all rounder.

Rooney's volley against West Ham last season from about the half way line, everyone went mad about it, but it was such an average goal. Rooney didn't have to beat the keeper, or hit it particularly hard, he just had to get it on target, Adrian did the rest, running around the penalty box like a headless chicken. Don't get me wrong, it was great technique and opportunism by Rooney, but people and pundits were talking like it was the best goal scored in a decade, fuck off, it's not even close.

Forabout a 5-6 year spell Beckham was terrific. A really top class footballer actually.

United were the best team on the planet for a 3-4 year spell and he started every week in a midfield alongside Keane, Scholes & Giggs; three of the best midfielders in the last 50 years. You don't get in that side every week if you can't play.

I couldn't tell you his goals record but I'd venture to say it was double figures or around there every year, with the same and change in assists. And he went both ways; none of this Ronaldo/Ginola/Pires shit of waiting around on the halfway line for the ball to come to you, he worked his cunt off at both ends of the pitch.

He was a super footballer, don't let the extraneous bits of 'Beckham' cloud your judgement.
