I doubt we will get any worse when he is away but the point scape goating as if he is the single player will not fix anything even against 5yr old Mane and Bobby. We got bummed by City not because one player was shite, because I can’t remember any player remotely doing anything of any note.

So answer my previous question, who is the leading assists statt in the last 2-3 few seasons? How come you post stuff only of the things that didn't do right but yet not balance it out with positive examples?. Salah has been our assist leader the last few season, but it shouldn't surprise anyone because he's the attacker that has the ball the most as well.

Lol, Do you hear yourself? You are basically negating his assist when it suits you, Because at elite level football over the least 9 seasons, he has had the most number of touches? You don't get that many touches unless you are doing something good. Strikers are often knocked for lack of touches. That is just embaressing as an excuse to knock someone at every post but never to acknowledge his positives. Reason I defend his not because he is particularly doing anything good this season but fact posters like you exist to have to try and potray him as the single biggest reason for our failure. All I’ve said is that he’s selfish. The number of goals or assists he has doesn’t matter to me, because with the way he plays he could probably have twice as many assists if he passed the ball more often.
Salah is a shoot first, pass if I have absolutely no chance to score, type player.

The problem isn't that Salah remains a selfish goalscorer, the problem is that he's not that fast anymore, doesn't have the legs to defend, doesn't have the beating of the average league fullback, doesn't need to be doubled, but more than anything the problem is that we've anchored our entire new team to him even though he's not capable of doing it near enough anymore.

Well He would have had twice as many assists if the other striker put them away, like Nunez was suppsoed to. I don't think it plays out simply like you are saying.
He hasn't delayed anything, it's not his fault we extended his contract, chose not to buy a RW or spent so far on two strikers who have yet to really properly deliver. All those things are on us, to be angry at someone because they choose to accept a contract and stayed nearly 10yrs is a bit weird.
I'm not angry at him, I'm angry at us for not being everything we've been told our value-minded, metric-driven, money balling philosopher kings are meant to be. We should have said thanks for the memories. He is delaying our actually having a functional new attack with some sort of new idea, built around someone else. Now will that be better? I don't know, probably not, but we have to get there one way or the other. Now we have less money and a player that causes the entire team to accommodate him.
Wirtz has been poor and wasteful, but equally others have been wasteful after wirtz has played some dangerous passes, and some have actively not passed to wirtz in better positions.
You don't think a goal and the team talisman setting him up would motivate the team or change some attitudes? There's been 3 in as many games where Salah should have passed to wirtz for a tap in. As I said before, if Salah scored them I wouldn't care. But he's not and he's making poor decisions.
honestly i felt he was done a year ago and he proved me incredibly wrong last season. that season basically ensured there would be outrage amongst the fanbase if he was allowed to leave.
but i don’t think the new contract was that risky and against our philosophy for a couple of reasons, firstly he loathes to not play and imo will not ride out the contract on the bench just for the money, secondly he still has value in the saudi league so that’ll be the escape plan for both parties if it sours.
you’re right imo, he’s kind of where ronaldo was when he returned to united. a faded star who’s a luxury because he still has good output but it’s to the overall detriment of the team.
so i don’t really think the edwards crew fucked up here nor salahs crew. it’s just up to slot now to pull the trigger, bench him and give us a glimpse of what his master plan is. afcon on paper seems like the perfect audition for this but if he basically just plays frimpong as a right winger i’ll not be impressed.
Ideally yes but then it's not like Wirtz hasn't had chances. I would have for a player of his quality to somehow found the never over the last 15 games he's player whatever. I'm not going to put it on one player related to Wirtz, he was brought in as a creative force so expected a lot more. it maybe that this season he will need time to bed in and be a different player next year.
This is a very reasonable position. Slot and the management team should be more clever about this. Salah, like in Mane's last two season is fading away. Slot needs to find a way to use him to support the new crop of players.
Salah is no Steven Gerrard to make the attacking players play even better through his game. If he was he would have been made Captain by now. Even at his best he was not this player in spite of the assists stat. He was very effective at providing the end product in a well functioning team in the form of goals, assists or key passes in the final third, and providing a counter attacking outlet. The last one declines with age anyway. The other 3 attributes can still be useful if the team played well. But so far we are fighting with defensive frailities as well as not being able to have able to string together a plan for attacking.
If Slot was good at integrating other players to his starting X1 that he settled on last year without compromising results this problem will not be as pronounced. The replacements for Diaz, Nunez and Jota apart from Ekitike are yet to show that they can be as good or eclipse them. Wirtz especially was meant to elevate the team play like what Firmino did, but he is struggling to adapt to the physicality. What happened with Jota in the summer obviously doesn't help the situation for anyone. We have no choice but to suck it and be patient.
