...have all rejected any rumours linking them with the Liverpool job.
Ok, it is a while since Mourinho was linked, but he said he would never take the job.
Klopp flatly refused. Deschamps has also said there is no chance he is taking the job.

No doubt many talented managers would love to manage LFC, but it is a bit disconcerting that our top targets, the ones everyone think would do a good job, all refuse.
It seems we are left with a choice between the safe and mediocre (O'Neill), and the highly risky (Boas).

Are we not as attractive as we think we are?

O'Neill can fuck right off. Cunt.

The others can too, if they don't understand what they're being offered a chance of.

Surprised?

They're all doing well, why would they leave it for this?

We need a championship manager who is making huge strides, or someone like that.

I don't remember any of those quotes. Care to link to them?

Also, what managers say and what they do are not always the same thing. We're a bigger club than Dortmund and Marseille, and always will be.

Deschamps ruling himself out is a blow.

Let's go after Boas. There's only so much an aspiring Manager can achieve in the Portuguese league.

I can understand though why unbiased people from an objective point of view don't see much of a chance in it right now.

Klopp and Boas are about to win their domestic leagues. They won't give that up.

In the summer they might.

Maybe.

Liverpool are a poisoned chalice.

We need a hungry manager on a mission with a vision.

O'Neil and the usual suspects are a no-go. Deschamps will only be available after 2014.

I'd take Rafa in the interim.

Last summer, no sane manager would have touched us with a bargepole. Thats why we ended up with Budgie.

No manager is going to give up chances of winning a trophy and move to us mid season.

Next summer is a whole new ball game though. The type of manager we will attract next summer will be a reflection of how serious NESV or FSG are about establishing us as a top force in Europe and the Premier League.

Absolutely. The night is darkest just before the dawn, and all that.

(Though it would help if Roy hasn't taken us down meanwhile.)

He (maurinho) said: “Manchester United would be a great challenge for me. But Liverpool is not the club for me. I know why, but I cannot tell you.

“Tottenham, Everton... Arsenal maybe. These are all fine clubs with very good managers.

“You can dream of what happens in one, two, three or four years. Who knows? I cannot say, but I think you have an idea of what I think about.

wtf does he mean by that?

Deschamps said this in november, and it doesnt mean a thing.

He's the one we want and he could move in the summer when the season is finished.

But if Deschamps wasn't interested, why did he bother talking to Purslow or get interviewed? ???

Video in this link: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8029356/Chelsea-v-Marseille-Liverpool-asked-Didier-Deschamps-to-replace-Rafael-Benitez.html

Found the question to my answer. 😛 Mentioned in his prematch press conference he was flattered with the interest but Marseille had just returned to preseason, timing wasn't right, fans and board wouldn't have been pleased with him

Deschamps doesn't mention Liverpool at all, while Klopp merely says there's been no contact - he doesn't rule out anything. That Mourinho interview is pretty weird: wtf is his problem with Liverpool?

I'd assume it's cos we chose Rafa over him?

He sure as hell wanted the job then, & said as much.

That quote is older than The Lying Rag itself.

Mourinho supported / admired Liverpool when he was younger, did he not?

Perhaps there is some resentment that we didn't pick him when he was still at Porto... either way, it doesn't matter. I can't see us going for him much less getting him.

As for Deschamps, Klopp or whoever... if we guarantee funds, they'll all be interested.

Obviously, no high profile manager is going to touch the job without the promise of mega bucks to spend.

Who wants to ruin their reputation by guiding that shower of shite to 6th/7th at best in the League, universal ridicule in the press and our Superfans chanting 'Dalglish' every time we're shit?

At least Ralf Rangnick, or rather, his agent, has expressed interest. >_<
[/quote]

Rangnick, who never won a trophy in Germany, has distanced himself from comments attributed to him suggesting that he wanted the Liverpool job, heightening the sense among some German observers that he might be in contention, as the quotes served only to discredit him.

In that case, does it explain why others distance themselves from the job when being linked, as well? ???

Trying to establish Marseille as a dominant force in Ligue 1 the way Lyon were, does seem to be a wiser choice for him.

Didier Deschamps on Monday confirmed he will stay on as coach of French giants Marseille through next season and beyond after announcing he has extended his current deal by two years to 2014.

"I have decided to continue my adventure with Olympique Marseille and to stay on for the long haul by extending my contract for two years," Deschamps said in a statement.

"I now have a road map with the financial wherewithal so that from today I can prepare the most competitive team possible in a precise budgetary framework," he explained.
