He may be shite on occasion but he's still one of the best strikers in the world for if not THE best

Nowhere near THE best. To earn that title he'd have to be able to produce on the big occasion instead of being the flat track bully that he usually is. He's got just about everything you'd want in a top striker, and he's a monster in league football, but nine times out of ten he's either incapable of producing it on the big occasion or simply can't be @rsed.

That's why I wanted him to go with Ireland to the European Championships. We were never going to play teams off the park, especially teams of the quality of Spain, Italy and Croatia, so set-pieces were always going to be key.
