And yes, the world cup too. Instead of 11s that stick in my mind, half the games I see are jaded beat up players, or alternate teams due to required rotation, or missing players due to injury. Then players play around the fixtures, and managers do too, conserving energy.
Only very occasionally do you see two rested teams going hell for leather. Those inter Barca games that everyone loved, they were good because they were prioritized. That's what rested teams trying hard look like. Other games were bad, so this one game could be good.
I'd rather watch half as many good games.
