PL Opposition Tidbits

City beating Juve 4-1.
They honestly look a bit scary now.
Anyone who doesn’t think City will be right up there again is bonkers. They’ve invested heavily and Rodri back is massive. Add the fact their coach usually wins the league every year and they will be a huge threat.

While we lose Salah in Dec.
Would be extremely stupid of us to buy Osimhen

by virtue of rodri being fit the league will be much more competitive, he’s that important to them

i’m hoping he has lost 10% or goes fabinho at 29

I sincerely hope so, but this tournament has been like a preseason for them. They've got a bunch of new players and it looks like they've gelled quite nicely.
Most of them have been going for 2 years nonstop. Our lot have been off since April.

Not to disagree, but is there actually anyone who doesn't think City will be a threat?

He's a big kid and a good passer. I think he'll develop into a decent forward.
Some players who are strikers todays started off on the wing. He could be one of them, I think.

Looks good but I haven't seen enough to know if he could be used as a striker. Slot mentioned versatile forwards so he might fit the bill. If Diaz leaves maybe he could be one to look at.

True, but to me it feels like last season was their off season. They got going towards the end of the season and almost finished second.
Courtesy of Arsenal going W4 D5 L1 + W2 vs Real and L2 vs PSG in between those 10 matches.

City W7 D3 of their last 10 (draws v. Brighton, Utd and Stn). Lost to Palace in the FAC. Already out of the CL. Lost 1-0 to Forest going back to the 11th game.

City will be good but I just don't see them as Champions.

They should have won the FA cup though. Blatant red card and missed pen. It was a real smash and grab.
7 wins and 3 draws, isn't bad

It's terrible, according to us eejits... Because when we did better, everybody thought we were falling apart. 😉

It wasn't all rosy though... in the 10 games before the we beat Spurs 5-1, we got knocked out by PSG, lost the league cup final and lost against Fulham.

Yep - One league loss. Knocked out of Europe on penalties by the best team in the competition and a one goal (but deserved) defeat in the least important cup final that there is... It wasn't perfect, no, but when the goal is the league, it also was NOT a wobble.

Granted we lost against the European Champions, but we still didn't play well and we didn't play well against Newcastle either.
It’s also a bit rich calling the League Cup the least important trophy—especially considering we didn’t exactly field the under-18s in the final.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Losing the final and getting knocked out by the eventual winners in the CL isn't the end of the world. Not really dropping points in the league was huge.

We did play fucking muck for a while though.

Worries and concerns are valid, especially considering we never really hit top form again
