Yeah, but didn't we want to win that trophy anyway? That's my point.
Downplaying it afterwards as if it's a shite competition to justify us not playing well during that period feels a bit revisionist.

Never said I didn't want to win it. I want to win every single match we ever play. I said it was the least important competition we were in last year. Both things are true, mate.

Nothing revisionist here... It IS a shite competition. Of course, once we got deep into it, I wanted to win to, too - Wining anything is lovely. But it has it's place, and for me (and most people I know) that's slightly above the Charity Shield... Losing in that competition is far less irritating to me than losing a league match (or in any other competition).
