Hmm. Fernando Torres perhaps?
United, Liverpool and Arsenal chase Roma midfielder
Jeremy Menez, wanted by Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, is almost certainly on his way to the Premier League after Roma’s notorious Ultras targeted his car in a terrifying attack.
The unsettled midfielder had a furious bust-up with coach Vincenzo Montella after Roma lost the first leg of the Italian Cup semi-final 1-0 at home to Inter.
But after the match the French star’s car was hit with stones and rocks thrown by Ultras in two incidents. Menez was uninjured but was left “shocked and shakenâ€.
Club insiders say Menez will now “almost certainly†leave this summer – a year before his contract expires.
He signed a four-year deal with Roma in 2008 and is expected to cost around £10million should he move.
Earlier this year, Menez said: “My departure is possible. In order to do well I have to feel people have confidence in me and that I’m important for the club.â€
KENNY DALGLISH'S Liverpool are lining up a £15m summer move for Blackburn starlet Phil Jones.
Kenny Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli watched the centre-back face Manchester City on Monday.
The club are searching for a top-class defender to strengthen the Anfield squad and Jones, 19, would provide perfect cover for Jamie Carragher, 33.
Blackburn are desperate to keep hold of the England Under-21 international but are likely to struggle to block a transfer.
If Rovers are relegated, Jones’ £15m asking price could go as low as £10m.
Arsenal have been tracking Jones for a year and would be interested.
But Arsene Wenger also likes Bolton central defender Gary Cahill, 25.
LIVERPOOL boss Kenny Dalglish is keeping tabs on Blackburn defender Phil Jones.
The former Rovers manager was at Ewood Park on Monday to watch the England Under-21 star turn in an another impressive performance against Manchester City.
But Dalglish is just one of a number of suitors. Scouts from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were also in the stands. Jones, rated one of the best young talents around, is under contract at Rovers until 2016.
KENNY DALGLISH is poised to go head to head with Sir Alex Ferguson as the battle to sign Blackburn centre-back Phil Jones intensifies.
Liverpool’s caretaker-boss Dalglish was at Ewood Park on Monday and saw £15million-rated Jones impress despite the 1-0 defeat by Manchester City.
Jones, 19, has emerged as one of the hottest properties in English football and has been likened to England and Chelsea captain John Terry by former Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce.
Arsenal had a firm bid of £9 million rejected last summer and Blackburn’s hopes of hanging on to him will be diminished if they are relegated.
Manchester United manager Ferguson made initial enquiries at the end of last season about the defender, who signed a new contract in February which runs until 2016, with a view to following up his interest this summer.
Liverpool’s need for defensive reinforcements is growing, with Daniel Agger’s recurring injury problems a concern and with Sotirios Kyrgiakos likely to leave.
Dalglish has also checked on Bolton’s Gary Cahill and Paris St Germain’s Mamadou Sakho, but left Blackburn after 80 minutes encouraged by Jones’ display.
LIVERPOOL boss Kenny Dalglish is poised to bring experienced and under-rated striker Robbie Keane back to Anfield
Colleagues of Damian Commoli were seen discussing and impressed by the veteran strikers movement and statistics against Chelsea last weekend, hoping that Keane will provide experienced, goalscoring back-up to Carroll and Suarez.
Keane is believed to be eager to make right his time under Rafael Benitez, by getting his final chance to play at the highest levels in the Premiership.
Keane, 30, has emerged as one of the most underrated properties after two underpar seasons in English football and has been likened to a Teddy Sherringham , Michael Owen type signing for the reds, with his experience scoring goals, certain to benefit Liverpool's youth.
The signing may inflame Liverpool fans, especially Irish accountants who started Fan message boards, given his performances under Benitez, and his past history having a pint three days before Ireland games
