Errrrr, sorry but I'm really struggling with this. Isn't the latter concept the Thatcherite, small state, one?
No. I'm talking about communities. The very thing she didn't blink about destroying.
I think she was in favour of people helping their neighbours and communities tbh, sure I've read that before.
Oh, and Harold Wilson destroyed even more communities. Let's redistribute the hate a bit.
If you don't understand that Tony Blair is a product of Thatcher there's not much hope.
So what are you saying?i am not sure that the people on here who hate/hated thatcher say everyone hated her. some people rather strangley loved the way she helped them become poorer and limited their chances in life.
populare doesnt mean good and unpopular doesnt mean bad. neither does it mean right or wrong. popular means popular and unpopular means unpopular.
not everyone hated g w bush but it doesnt make him a great leader.
I am not falling for that one .Likes are being dished out like lube at an orgy.
Likes should be banned for this thread.
For those who doubted Spion's story of Thatcher crying about the Falklands dead, perhaps they're more likely to believe Tony Benn? I've just seen a quote from him about her turning up at the funeral of Labour MP Eric Heffer and being in tears from grief.
So what are you saying?

just that being popular doesnt mean you are right or wrong.
It is a fucking luxury! It doesn't automatically follow that she wouldn't (reluctantly or otherwise) support the continuing subsidisation of it by non-graduate taxpayers. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't. Until then our Stew is tilting at windmills, as per fucking usual.
So it's ok to pay millions for her funeral, ok for MPs to claim thousands in expenses to attend it, the Tories are outraged at the scenes of people celebrating the witch's death but are happy for her funeral to have a Falkland's theme to it. We're all in the austerity climate together people. You couldn't make the shit up. Gang of twats totally out of touch.
she made the unis answerable to market forces obviously. it started a trend that is deepening all the time and it will eventually render the humanities the pastime of the rich as their value is not economic.
and being unpopular (like I am on here) does not make you wrong either

think how many ancient norse literature scholars could be bankrolled with that kind of money.
Don't necessarily disagree with some of the stuff you're saying but get your Stewart Lee's cock out of your mouth already.
I'm unsure what money or uni fees or whatever other irrelevant financial dealings have to do with anything.
The fact is that Thatcher's policies deliberately divided a country. Have's and have not's, North and South etc. That's her legacy.
Surely anyone can see that if you debase the nations industries, sell the nations treasures and use it as reward money or to open a line of credit for those willing to follow the plan and continue with callous disregard for those who can't or don't agree then things don't get better they just store up animosity.
That's where we are. I've seen people on telly unable to understand why there's been a backlash. The lack of awareness beggars belief.
All in it together...don't think so.
No conservative voted in any election in scotland for a generation. Scotland and Wales having a monumental rise in independence movements, Scotland on the verge of leaving the union.Fact? Prove it.
we are all on the web today on either a computer or laptop or smart phone we all have top tech. We all watch footy online or on sky or go to matches. I expect we all socialise, drinks food ETC and may even play some recreational sports. kids go to after school clubs, we go on holidays sometimes.
We all have free school, its free to go to uni (you only pay back some after you get a well paid job after). We all get Free health, we have good fire, ambulance and police compared to some places.
Didn't a guy get slaughtered recently for saying we have never had it so good. I agree with him. 7 years ago I was skint going around supermarkets with a calculator, sold my car as i could not afford to run it. I am where I am today because this country offers you opportunity.
If it is so bad here fuck off and live somewhere better, bugs me when people slate this country
I am so not posh, my family are skint and always lived on dodgy council estates, my mum and dad both live in old people homes now FREE with good pensions they hardly contributed to. My sister has not worked for 20 years and is a dole bum which i hate but again she was allowed to do it she is always ill and gets looked after FREE although she does not deserve it. Nobody in my family owns a car or a house, I broke away from that and left home and had a go.
I know some folk live in areas of poverty, so move I did. I know not everyone is financially comfortable but there are a lot of people in their comfort zones who are not brave enough to have a go on their own, use a govt grant to start up or move away to do better in an area with more opportunity.
This country gives you a chance in my opinion and it is a good place to live, not perfect but very good. I used to be in the Air Force and I was very proud to be so and represent my country..
There, soap box away
