Shit
This is dangerously close to RCDNW territory

I'd be fairly sure Rodgers wanted both.
Şahin was the one that started the unease, I feel. Getting him, raving about him, playing him out of position and then letting him go again - it all just seemed weird for a manager with such firm opinions about what he needed.
[article=http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/oct/24/brendan-rodgers-rules-out-defensive-coach-liverpool]“There is no chance of us bringing in a defensive coach,” Rodgers said. “We have conceded a large number of soft goals, there’s no argument about that, but I think it is just a lack of coaching time that is hurting us. We need to reinforce basic principles at defensive set pieces, but we know that already. We have to get better and we will be working on it.
“When I first came in I was asked whether I would bring someone in to help the strikers score goals. I didn’t, and we got goals anyway. I think what we have this year is more games to carry, which takes a slight intensity out of us. We are in the big competitions now and there is an added expectancy on us, which there should be. We are Liverpool. When you concede the goals that we have been conceding there will always be questions asked of you. We need to answer those questions and I believe we can. In terms of bringing someone else in, we don’t need it.”[/article]
He talks some crap alright. It's a lack of coaching time. He had plenty of time last season.
I think he needs to reassess bringing someone in to help the team score goals again.
How many of us were really critical of any of his signings, pre-season?
And if the players with this potential fails to click.. Then that can only be down to the manager and his coaching staffThis is it.
The only one I was critical of was Balotelli - I wasn't even particularly critical of him, I just said we had to make sure we got Eto'o as well as he fitted our style far better.
Lovren looked a very good player and everyone was talking about him being a leader for us after pre-season.
Can is a talent and one that plenty of clubs were keen on.
Markovic is a sensation. He's got the potential to be an absolute great; at both club level and international level he's been sensational until this season. Pires pitiful in his first season at Arsenal - Markovic has enough talent to emulate him and is worth waiting on.
Lallana was excellent last season. Putting the price aside he was a really good signing and one who can really help us.
Moreno and Manquillo - half the forum were creaming themselves over these two during the early stages. They're both really good players and, potentially, great ones.
Origi - looks an absolute beast. The fact he can't play with us this season doesn't change the fact we've got a potentially ripping attacker there.
Lambert is the black horse. I know some think there's no place for it but I thought it was good business bringing in a local lad. He was signed to be a real 4th striker; he's always been decent and could be counted on to give his all and just love the fact he was at the club.
And if the players with this potential fails to click.. Then that can only be down to the manager and his coaching staff
I would buy this argument if it was one or two players, but it is all of them!!Actually, no it can't. It may be all down to management and coaching, but there are always other factors. There is hugely increased pressure playing for Liverpool having come from Southampton, or Swansea, where you play every game and are a vital cog in the team.
I've no idea whether this is something affecting the new signings but it's quite possible.

Everyone though lovren was going to be quality for us.

I Think the sale of Suarez has had a huge psychological impact.. definitely. But then that should not really be affecting the new players should it?..One or two? You could well be talking about Lovren, Lallana, Lambert and Markovic here. But then there's also the possibility that the squad were affected psychologically by the sale of Suarez and the fact we didn't sign a proven world class player to 'replace' him (not necessarily in terms of position, but in terms of the squad having that quality of player, or something close to it).
