Frank de Boer, starts coming in and odds shortening by the minute, second fav behind Martinez. AVB still fav but odds lengthening slightly, Rafa is moving well out at 12's

Liverpool contact Frank de Boer

Liverpool are thought to have contacted Ajax coach Frank de Boer over the managerial vacancy at Anfield.

The Reds are continuing their search for a new boss after Kenny Dalglish was sacked on Wednesday evening after only 16 months in charge.

Anfield chiefs have now made an approach for the former Netherlands international, according to The Lying Rag.

However, the 42-year-old has asked for time to consider his future.

It was confirmed earlier this week that the Merseysiders will be allowed to hold talks with Wigan Athletic's Roberto Martinez over the position.

Not a great source but also reported in that paper that can not be spoken of.

Could be a great choice

No, it certainly isn't.

Kuyt, "play me or i talk to The Lying Rag"

To be honest - and this is probably petty, small time etc - I'm going to struggle to support Dirk with whoever the next manager is. I hope whoever it is notes the same short comings that Kenny (and a lot of posters this season) have observed.

I'm leaning towards De Boer to be fair.

Hard as nails as a player.

I liked AVB, loved what he got Porto doing but the more I look into his background the more I'm begining to wonder if he's living off one real success. We probably won't know without trying him and he's got some merit but it's becoming a bigger risk the more Iook at it.

Rafa; I've regained enough of my emotional capacity over the last few days - I'd cry if he was manager again. It would be a while before I could come back on here or watch us play again.

De Boer understands football. It's a cliche but he's a fan of the concept of "total football". I like the fact he has a background at Ajax - one of the all time great clubs who played some incredible football in their day. We've got history with them and plenty of contacts in there as it is. Plus, while he's not an old head with grey hair that demands respect he was as tough as they came when playing and I reckon he can/does bring that with him when he's managing. Probably just what we need to get everyone on the same page.

Anyone know if Dirk has a good relationship with him?😕

Good post Wiz. Know little about both but prefer de boers background for sure

Hhmmmm, just read Binny's thread on De Boer. Had no idea about the turmoil he was dealing with behind the scenes. What's even more likeable is that he (De Boer) wasn't quoted making excuses through the season for the poor form early on. Damn I'm tired of excuses.

I'll also second Ryan's question; why not Gene?

Well AVB is a bullshitter and I'm not even sure he knows it.

De Boer is Dutch. Plus he's only been a manager a year or two.

The Dutch thing doesn't bother me. In fact, it actually interest me in terms of what he'd bring to the style and structure of the side.

What's the issue with the Dutch aspect of it? If he signs the next Van Basten I'm pretty happy.

That he's only been in it for a couple of years is fair enough but he makes things work; Given who we've been linked to that kind of criteria would rule us out of pretty much everyone............ except Rafa. *shivers*.

He'd be a much bigger risk than Martinez. No one knows if AVBs bullshit is worth it. It's all theory at this point.

Remember last April when people were saying he had a pre-contract with us? Well I do and my Portugeezer mate who supports Porto sent me this:

He is being hyped up as the new Mourinho. The thing is though, it would have been impossible for any

manager to NOT win the league with Porto this season. I can assure you even a monkey would have won the league this season with Porto.

His success has come from inheriting a top quality Porto side, that just needed a bit of tinkering to make it work.

I dont think he's the new Mourinho. I mean, last season it was Domingos Pacienca (Braga's manager) being talked up as some super-manager, and he's had a faily average league campaign this season.

He'd be sacked within the year - at most - at Liverpool IMO.

Let's see how he does in the CL next year.. He's probably the closest we've come to getting a "new Mourinho" though, but right now he is vastly overrated...

Bit of tinkering?? They bought 8 new players when he arrived, and sold Meireles and Bruno Alves.
If it was the monkey from planet of the apes he could be right.....

So Rafa's odds are now the same as the man who publicly said no.

You realise, if we get Frank de Boer, we will have to refer to him ad "FDB".

I'm trying to imagine how de Boer would be pronounced in a scouse accent - not pretty.

Also, the minute he fucks anything up he'll be called Wank de Boer - which.

We need to tread carefully here...

Given I haven't a fucking clue who I want, I'm going to judge it on the most pertinent of factors; how they dress.

Now I've tried not to pick the best/worst images for each of these cunts as that'd be unfair, so I'm just going for their typical run-of-the-mill attire.

De Boer:

Impressive work there. Bit of a pull on the arms, but hard not to like the open neck shirt and dark cardy combo. Brown belt gets a tick too.

AVB:

Woeful. Hard to know were to start, but I'll give it a go. Sports watch with a suit? Who are you, Barry Fry? That shirt collar? You don't work in McDonalds you gimp. Skinny tie? It's not 2006. The length of your tie? Meet. The. Fucking. Belt.

Martinez:

Solid work here. Good jacket length, nice shoulder roll, and the trousers are fine. Could have done with more of a spread collar on the shirt for that tie, but I'm nitpicking really. He's a frontrunner after this.

Rafa:

Next.

Klopp:
klopp_HA_Sport_LEVE_255510c.jpg

I searched and searched, and... couldn't find anything of him in a suit. There's a few of him in an overcoat but this tracksuit top thing is his schtick. I know he's German, tactically great and all that, but we can't have this cunt on the sidelines. He looks like Sally Gunnell.

Deschamps:
didier%20deschamps.jpg

Would you look at the state of this. He's 4 foot tall and wearing a fucking duvet for a suit. We can't have this chump.

So, who have I missed? Guardiola's no hope of coming so I'm not bothering Googling him. Who else is there? Cos we're stuck with Martinez or De Boer based on this, and I know that aint making some of you happy...

Alternatively, we could go down this path...

BAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. He's still wearing his fucking school shoes.

what cracks me up about ryan is he can't see himself trolling the place out but insists that I'm the only person doing it.
tell us again ryan, did you or did you not want kenny to leave?
