Post Match West Ham (H) 2-1 Sunday 13th April

I really wish some of you would use different words when talking about our players... 'Coward' is a terrible word to use on a group of players that are leading the league by 13 points. They're not - They're knackered, and with physical fatigue comes mental errors. On another thread, some gobshite called Robbo a useless cunt. He's not - He's a fucking legend who's time has come. Show a little fucking respect, for Christ's sake.

That was a brutal last 50/60 minutes. The changes robbed us of any structure or fluidity. The second Robbo entered the pitch, Bowen went and stood beside him and they targeted him repeatedly after that. Quansah for Bradley was a head-scratcher that I really hope was just managing minutes after a lengthy injury.

They have some smashing players, and their leagie position doesn't reflect how good they can be... Kudis in particular looked unplayable at times. For us, Diaz, Mo, Macca and Gravvy started soooooooo well, but then verybody just lost their way with about 10 minutes left in the first half. Except Ali, thank jeebus - He's absolutely fucking magnificent, and he's as important as Virgil to us, and more so than any other player.

I share many of the concerns being put forth over these last few weeks, about Slot's refusal to rotate, to even bother with certain players, and the glaring need to strengthen at both FB positions, but I'm hoping that it's just him waiting until he gets some players in that he does trust this summer (fingers crossed), and then he'll do a lot more rotating and managing minutes... We've been lucky that his stubbornness hasn't hurt us this season - If he persists with this shit next season, than we really WILL have problems.

I stand by coward for some of those players. I've never said every player, I've said there's cowards out there. Couldn't give a shit if we're 13 clear; I know a coward when I see one

And my question is, why doesn't Slot change it up, instead of letting the same players continue stinking up the place?
He simply doesn't trust/rate others.

Endo, Chiesa, Eliott, Kostas, Nunez - he plays them begrudgingly.

He does look quite acutely fucked doesn't he. If ever there was someone ripe for the Saudi Pro League it's him.

I've given Arsenal loads of credit for their injured strikers but maybe I was wrong. Is Merino that much worse than Jota?
The way we play, merino would have 15 by now

Because he likes the system, and doesn't rate the players I reckon. He's rather cripple someone than let Elliott, chiesa or endo get more than 5 minutes
This is very fair, and I agree completely... Very worrying if it continues into next season.

I don't get what we were doing in the 2nd half. Szobo and the front 3 are just running around aimlessly high up the pitch and making a sad attempt at pressing. One pass from the back and West Ham are usually face to face with our defenders.

If we don't intend to keep the ball, play and use our front players, why bother keeping them up there? Just pull the wingers back and switch to 1 up top.

Its weird to see fans having a go at the manager that has gotten the team 13 points clear and won more games in 50 then any other manager in the history of the club.

It’s a bit Arsenal Fan TV for me. I actually hate it after a win.

We should be enjoying the 3 points and talk about being 6 points from NR 20.

Instead it’s an argument about squad players minutes. Fucking hell.

I know and I've been saying this since January.
It's remarkable really. Our bench isn't that terrible.
I can understand not wanting to make changes when it's going well, but what Slot is doing currently is killing the confidence of those squad players. It can only mean one thing. None of them will be LFC players after the summer, if he can help it. Wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Benitez and Klopp, despite their flaws, got squad players to play better than they actually were. Made them feel needed.
I do not like what Slot is doing.

Name them?
Quansah. Gakpo (though he is coming back to fitness but he's never been a fucking lion). Weirdly Jones today I thought was . Szob. Jota - tenacity doesn't mean you're not shitting out of things (and he wasn't even that tenacious).

There's a passivity and a reluctance to engage in 50/50s today. 2nd half most of the team was passive. Passivity cannot be excused in a system like ours.

We won that game because Macca got pissed off, forced a corner, and then floated in an exquisite ball. After letting 17th placed west ham look superior to us for a majority of the second half

Oh, and that ref was pure garbage, by the way... That was 100% a penalty from our corner, there was one wonderful challenge by Curtis on one of their midfielders that we won, clean as a whistle, that he blew up for, and there were several other decisions he made throughout the match, against both teams, that were mind-boggling. So bloody poor.

I do agree.

All the calls about Chiesa / Elliot / Nunez, how sure are we that they do deserve to play? More sure than our coaching staffs who watch them train day in day out?

Not going to go down that route of criticizing the manager for this when we are not any wiser what's actually happening.

In my defence I'm not blaming slot, these players are good enough (hence 13 points clear), but some seem to genuinely think they need to turn up to win and I hate that mentality

Do they deserve more than 5 minutes when the personnel on the pitch has been poor for 60+ minutes?

I can understand not starting them, completely. But giving them no more than sympathy minutes?

Bradley was a real positive for me today again. I really hope we go for Kerkez and line up next year with the two best young full backs in the game.
Attacking FBs adds different dimensions. Gets us up the field and feels like a pre-req now even for a Slot team. We really need a RB and LB to offer us options this summer.

I can't speak for the others here, but I actually feel for those sitting on the bench.
It's unfair and undeserved.
We saw what Endo and Elliott can do under Klopp. To all of a sudden label them persona non grata, isn't right.

Yes, we should not be winning the league but our squad players have played more minutes.
That would be much better.

I think the point is, he is going to win us the league.

I am not going down that rabbit hole of who should play and who should not.

He deserves some faith / trust in his team selections, at least from me.

I'll never agree that we have many cowards on our team... We simply don't, and it's such a vile word, mate. Ironically, the only player that I feel truly fits that word over the past couple of years is our vice-captain.

Others may be lacking confidence or aren't playing well or just aren't good enough, but I'm just not seeing cowardice on display. Stupidity, yes. Laziness, sometimes. Exhaustion, constantly. Nerves, yes. But not that, not for me.

Let's say gravy, Macca, or Salah due to minutes played, ends up getting a serious injury that impacts us for next season. A high level hamstring tear that puts them out for months and there's a worry they'll come back at the same level. Should we care then? Or just accept it

Winning the league isn't some cure all that fixes every issue

Robbo is just a joke and there was no reason to replace the Greek, who was playing quite well. But if he was going to take Jones off it had to be for Endo. As soon as Szob came on there was like thirty yards of space between the halfway line and our box for the rest of the match. He might do a lot of running but where? Fucking shite. When endo finally was coming on i thought he might take szob back off because we hadn't seen the cunt.

We have different levels of acceptable performances when it comes to that word. Trent against United was just as bad as some of the performance in the 2nd half out there today. Or is it exhaustion when the player isn't leaving us?

I'm not even trying to be arsey there. Excuses can be made for a wealth of things and a league win can paper over a lot of cracks. There are players out there that I do not believe are playing for Liverpool football club and it's fans. They get their money and that's enough.

And I do trust his choices. I may not agree with them but he knows more about football than me. He's earned the right to be trusted so far.

Oh, and no MOTM thread..?

The correct answer, the only answer today is Ali.

Diaz, Macca and Virgil can battle it out for the other spots.

I may not seem it, but I'm very happy with the 3 points, especially after they scored

I may not seem it but I fucking love that we're going to win the league

I also don't see the point on coming on a football forum and sucking our own dicks until we lift the trophy. There's issues in this squad and I have no qualms in talking about them now. If others don't, then cool. Don't.

Winning the league isn't some cure all that fixes every issue

Being crowned champions is all that matters.
Our issues can be fixed and addressed this summer. Slot said as much last week.

On the cusp of winning the league for the second time in 35 years. But here we are doing our best impression of Arsenal Fan TV.

God, this place is losing all its joy.

As the season has gone on, I've noticed:

1) More errors creeping in from VVD and Konate.
2) Mo's legs starting to go around 70mins, and unable to beat players 1v1s (especially 2nd half).
3) Our other forwards + Szobo contributing less and less.
4) Gravy looking less and less dominating in DM.
5) Our FBs getting beat more and more
6) Reliance on Quansah/Keheller/Jones being more and more costly
7) Slot's subs being less effective

I think we need to solve this in the transfer market. This team is at the end of a cycle. Thankfully, we're picking up a league title. Slot has done a magnificent job in the first 2/3 of the season. But this last 1/3 should serve as a warning ahead of next season.

But apart from that, everything good?

What's the point in a football forum if it's just going to be 3 weeks of "6 points to gox?

May as well let the forum shut down until the summer if we're unable to talk about how this squad can be improved.

Everyone is elated that we've won the league. Shut her down until there's something we're allowed to discuss
