Speared on from Mbappe thread, gave me an idea for a new thread..

I will start

Imagine if we sold Henderson and brought in Dempsey ?

So many unanswered questions..

Who would have lifted the trophy in June..

Who would be Captain ??

Would we even be the team we are now without Henderson ??

The biggest sliding doors moment, perhaps the one that defines the whole Klopp era, is what if Barca had never come in for Coutinho. Would we have ended up with Virge and Alisson? Would we have found this reliable winning formula?

Obviously not

Read a thing on F365 today talking about the gerrard slip and it being a sliding doors moment

Would we rather have won the league under Rodgers, with an aging suarez, young coutinho and sterling and the need for a massive overhaul?

Or what we have now?

I'd plump for this reality tbh

Picture it

We manage a draw against chelsea, the crystanbul shite doesn't happen. We romp home.

Rodgers is given the freedom of the city, a new 5 year contract, and carte blanche for him and his transfer committee

A summer of speculation and suarez still leaves.

Thats ok, we can buy a replacement. After an unsuccessful approach for Sanchez, we go for Destro.

We win the first few games, a bit dicey, but we win them

Rodgers head begins to inflate as over the summer he noticed a mural some scouse artist has done down wood street ways.

He dumps his young partner for a younger one.

He tentatively enquires about building a statue in his honour. SOS love the idea and start a petition for it.

The results begin to dwindle

Cup competitions finish early for us

4th place finish

Sterling leaves after discovering he was indeed in the envelope

Rodgers now decides to go full tiki taka. We play united. 80% possession, 0 shots on target, 3-0 loss. Fellaini brace

Destro now lives on the bench, seemingly destined to go the way of Borini

No one wants to join us

Rodgers now has 10 envelopes.

and a gun

I tend to think we wouldn't, but I'm not sure it is entirely obvious. We did attempt to tap up Virge before Barca came in for Coutinho, so we definitely were moving for him before we knew we'd be selling Coutinho. You'd also like to think that we would have still moved for a keeper at some stage.

I mean yeah, it would have been great for Gerrard to win it.

But he also created the best meme for opposition fans. It's only slightly challenged by Rio's "Ole's at the wheel" on BT

Difficult one to be honest. Would love to have seen Gerrard win the premier league, but in the long run I doubt if Rodgers was the right manager for us. We weren't building a dynasty. Suarez fucking carried us that season and would have left anyway.
And Europe? As they say New Jersey "forget about it"...

What if we had convinced the King to just take 6 months (or whatever it took) leave.

Coutinho was sacrificed at the altar of Big Ears. And now the league.

We also tried to spend £53m on Fekir the summer we signed Alisson.

So we defo had more money available. Whether that would've stretched far enough for both of them who knows.

True. We never did really spend the Fekir money, did we?
