Why Rafa must go right now.

If Rafa stays I am certain we will not get fourth. We simply have lost our way totally and show no signs of being able to put together the kind of run needed to get their.

If we do miss out on Europe then we lost over 30M. Furthermore if we Rafa stays and we finish 5th of lower he will be fired with a potential 12M more in compensation.

So that's a -42M.

If we sack Rafa now we lose 12M but at least have some chance of getting fourth and that 30M.

We still have many of the players that got us to 2nd last year and with the right motivation they may just get us to fourth, if not we are still looking at the same lost of money.

But one thing is certain, keeping Rafa til May means we definately won't be in the CL next season.

We must act now.

Watching Chelsea score with ease 4 times in the first 30 mins after watching us stutter for 90 made me sick.

I think we will scrape fourth but he will go anyway. People who are willing to accept scraping fourth after challenging last season need their heads checking.

It's a tall order for a new manager to come in and secure CL football anyway. Hiddink's shown he can do it, albeit with a much better squad, but we'll be asking a lot from anyone who comes in.

I don't think the owners will pay off Benitez from their own pocket, and the club certainly can't afford to remove him. It's frustrating, really. Everything he's done this January has been correct; he's removed the dross signings and appears to be replacing them with players of a decent calibre at a good price, who can help lift the dressing room and get this season back on track.

A squad clear-out can put the fear into the players. It's not much to go on, but there a few reasons to be optimistic despite this gloomy spell.

I can't see us winning the games needed under Rafa.

But with a new coach the lift could do the trick.

It's obvious Rafa wont be resigning. He would have left already if he was intending to.

The man has no shame and will need to be booted.

Fucking hell.

Since Rafa's first "Facts" press conference was a little over a year ago and people say that's the moment he lost it finally I thought I'd have a look at our league results in the past year.

20 wins, 9 draws, 8 losses from a total of 37 games. So one short of a season, and the points tally is 69.

69 -72 points has usually been enough for fifth spot (occasionally fourth spot), so since last January when we were top of the league we've played like a fifth place team. Worryingly Jan - May of last season was better than August to January this season, so we're in a rut.

If we produce similar results for the rest of the season we won't qualify for the CL.

The Everton game looks exciting, free flowing. 1-0 to Everton.

ooopss wrong thread.

If we get in either Turan or Jones for Babel, we might have a shot. That and the injuries staying away.

We won't get fourth. We don't have a good enough squad.
that's irrelavent if we only have to play 17 more games. so all you need is good team and a couple of decent substitutes. the reason we won't get fourth is because benitez will take the europa league seriously, he will not pick a good team, and his substitutions are beyond even my ability to understand things

Erm what good team can he pick ?

It comes to something when one of the defences available to our manager also happens be a sad indictment of his transfer policy.

a buddy that old fart from manure was exactly the same for several years with his signings and the old twat still getting them wrong ie nana, berbatoss , anderson (and no not viv ) so rafa not alone in his poor signings but wait didnt the old twat from manur get it right in the end so dont be so hastey matey

This notion that because Man Utd didn't sack Fergie every other manager should be given more time so they too will start shitting trophies is crazy talk.

no brendan true words! so what happens if we bring in josey and he dont win prem in 6yrs do we sack him and say he is shite then try some other manager for another 6yrs and so on it cost 10million to get rid of houlier now 20 million to get rid of rafa get real mate you cant keep doing that we will be bankrupt

so who would you like to see him pick that he has not allready ?
I would like to see him not buy shit players.

Then we wouldn't have to worry about who to pick.

o you of little faith avmenon there are investors waiting to step in when the price is right do you think the clubs value go up while we are having such a bad season ?
