We're interested in this young man according to some Spanish paper. I have to say, he looks very, very impressive. 32 goals in all competitions this season, 21 years old.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City target Mats Hummels admits he could depart Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Germany international is out of contract at the end of June and has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.
And Hummels says he is aware that he is approaching a key moment in his career in the coming months.
"I don't necessarily want to [leave], but I have to make a big decision. I have been back and forth a lot," he told Bild.
"Age gives you a feeling that you don't have forever to win. I realise in every year I don't win a title, I'm closer to retiring.
"I've spoken to Ilkay Gundogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan over their thoughts. The Champions League is a target for me in any case. I want to win this title."
Hummels has made 43 appearances for Dortmund this season, scoring three goals.

I think the translation is wrong – his contract expires in summer 2017, not this June. But his unwillingness to renew beyond that date speaks volumes. I think it's quite likely he will move teams this summer, the question is – where? I'm sure both Guardiola and Mourinho will want him. Having Klopp as manager definitely puts us in contention and Matip-Hummels partnership can potentially be one of the very best in the world. Our fans need to create an atmosphere to remember on Thursday and let's hope this leaves an imprint on Mats' mind when he is weighing his options in the summer.

Joyce and Barrett saying we're after Dahoud

It's probably just because he's lightweight and has pretty poor stats, but he reminds me of a more mobile Joe Allen, still I like the fact he's very comfortable receiving the ball with his back to goal and turning in one motion and driving forward, like Coutinho and Lallana do so well. I can see why Klopp would like him, he seems very effective at bringing the ball forward at his feet, or via a pass, and has quick feet in general, I'm unsure how he'd fit in though with the signing of Grujic, unless both Allen and another are off.

Never heard of Mahmoud Dahoud which is perfect. I can, however, imagine Vic and Bob saying it to each other.

I can see Grujic being in the reserves for at least a season before making the first team.

I had mentioned Dahoud a couple of times – I like him a lot and my only concern is that he looks lightweight, but to be fair he's only 20, just 5 months older than Brannagan. His first touch, control and vision are beautiful and @Mystic I don't think 4 league goals and 8 assists is "poor stats" for a 20-year-old CM.

We're also quite heavily linked to Dembele, but so are the rest of Europes top clubs these days.

I agree, but I swore I saw his stats were two goals and a single assist. If they're four and eight, that's very encouraging.

Oh, must have been some outdated table. Link to the transfermarkt stats added to the post above. Also this video is more recent than the one posted earlier and includes some of his latest goals and highlights.

I've never seen any of them but the first player is much more impressive. There's nothing in that second video that's particularly impressive or that Joe Allen doesn't already do for us.

Dahoud is an absolute beast CDM!! He's 20 so fits with the model we are working with and he is a massive upgrade on the CDM's we currently have. I've watched him many times this season, worth every penny at £20mill

Central midfielder yes, but a defensive midfielder? No chance.

Janssen in that clip reminds me of Ings - I don't see lightning pace or fancy footwork, but he knows a thing or two about finishing, and getting into the right places to do that. Since we already have Ings, I'm not sure we need another like him.

edit: Are we better off spending the summer trying to find a replacement for Benteke, or trying to get him to fit the team somehow? I guess I'm not quite ready to give up on him just yet, as frustrating as his performance this season has been.

The Dutch kid looked strong, with an eye for goal, and the spaces around goal. Tons of Energy. I liked the clip at 4:20 where he kept on his feet even though two defenders went at him (I have a special like for players that don't go down too easy). If only youtube scouting was spot on, this kid looks like a force of nature.

He does the defensive side of his job exceptionally well in the games I've watched. Full of energy and stamina, knows how to block off the spaces .. is a massive talent.

Whilst I defer to your greatly knowledge on the matter, his complete lack of physique makes me nervous about how he'd fare as a premier league CDM.

Janssen scored and had an assist when Holland beat England. Looked decent. Bit of a van Nistelrooj type.

Kante is probably proving everyone wrong when it comes to physique and short midfielders.
Granted he is a few years older and a bit more bulk.

Well, they do say that a "good big 'un is always better than a good little 'un" but two of the best defensive midfield players to ever grace the Premiership were both short: Masher and Makelele.

I'd be amazed if BM sell Dahoud now at 20 after a fantastic breakthrough season. It'll be more likely Xhaka they let go and certainly not both.

Sadly this, their DoF said today that they wont sell him. They're losing a few other players, including Xhaka, so he probably wont move this summer.

I like the fact that Klopp seems to have prioritised our midfield in the rebuild. Doesnt bode well for the likes of Henderson Lucas and Allen though.
