Didn't think it was going to hit me as hard as it is right now... Hope everyone's been well.

    Who's going to Madrid?

Realize I've been totally dead on here for years, but I've made arrangements to be in Madrid for matchday - no hope or expectation of tickets though. If the opportunity is there, definitely keen to meet up with any of you lot. And if anyone else without match tickets has a good venue set up to...

    Who's going to Madrid?

Strongly considering flying in for this - flights are pretty reasonable from the US since I have some miles to burn. Still requires some massaging though, basically the only option is to get into Madrid on Thur and stick around until Tue/Wed. Biggest difficulty seems to be transit and...

Yeah, I'll be with P&W, working on the F135. I've heard some mixed things about Sikorsky - I did my capstone project in conjunction with Bell Helicopter, so I got some exposure to the rotorcraft stuff, and the crazy dynamics tricks they've engineered for performance. Very cool.

Yeah, it'll be a big switch for sure. The job should be worth it though, working in aerospace propulsion.

Yeah, been busy for a couple weeks now. In the middle of moving from Austin to Hartford, CT for work.

Trump or Clinton - Cast Your Vote!

With regards to the Hispanic vote, the last couple of pages are a good example of not quite understanding the nuances of American voting blocs. The Hispanic vote includes the Cuban population, who tend to lean right. This is mainly because the Dems have had a softer stance against Cuba...

Wasn't there some agitation between Icardi and the Inter supporters? Did that get smoothed over?

    January/summer targets

There's this Mario Balotelli guy playing for Nice in Ligue 1 who's been banging in goals. Big physical player with pace and power to go along with a cracking strike.

Trump or Clinton - Cast Your Vote!

I wouldn't expect a third party candidate to beat out either of the major party options, or even come close, but percentage wise they had a really poor showing at the polls. Gaining enough votes to swing the election in either direction would have at least gained some notoriety and media...

Trump or Clinton - Cast Your Vote!

Broadly speaking, they put forward bad candidates with worse platforms that didn't properly exploit the flaws of the major parties. There's a John Oliver clip from a few weeks discrediting both options pretty handily in just a few minutes, definitely worth a watch. Probably easier than having...

Trump or Clinton - Cast Your Vote!

I think there's a small chance a coalition of sorts forms between moderate Republicans who agree with Trump's policy and moderate Dems who share common ground. Possibly the best case scenario, unlikely as it is. Otherwise it'll be pretty unproductive due to a lack of cohesiveness on the right.

Trump or Clinton - Cast Your Vote!

Oh, and there is some hilarious satisfaction in seeing the third parties continue to stay irrelevant despite their protestations. They finally had an opportunity to properly siphon voters and blew it spectacularly.

Trump or Clinton - Cast Your Vote!

My Facebook feed tonight has been fantastic. Apparently a bunch of kids at UCLA went and protested...something. I generally lean left, but I'm not too bothered by this. Given this is American politics, expect inaction and a lot of modification in policy. I don't expect a lot of meaningful and...

    Youth Wage Cap

Unless this is put in universally by the FA, this is a pretty terrible move. Surely we have some workarounds in the way of bonuses or something to that effect though. Surely.

    US debate

Obstructionist politics is the main reason I take a nihilistic view towards a lot of policy. It's become much more prominent in the last decade or two, just in terms of sheer volume and a lack of coalitions forming.

    US debate

I'm not sure all that many got fucked over in the last eight years though, most are probably in a similar or somewhat better situation. Crime in inner cities is a concern, but that's not easily influenced by the executive branch.

    US debate

Maybe, but the political base for the Right is quite literally dying off, and young people reaching voting age are primarily voting for the left purely on social issues. The Right's position on social issues and science has made them untenable with a fair few people, and I think with some...

    US debate

Pence is generally viewed as a very bland addition to Trump in an effort to balance him out. Prior, nearly nobody knew who he was, and most of his exposure has been in the last few months, and it hasn't all been positive. Making him lead the ticket would also alienate the anti-establishment...

Klopp had well over 300 appearances and 50 goals for Mainz. Easy to forget how big those numbers actually are when comparing to some of the managers mentioned in this thread though.

    NFL - Offseason, Draft & 2016/17 Season

Same thing goes for the Redskins, they just aren't running the ball enough to set anything else up. Matt Jones is a super talented back, who's poised for a big season if he gets the volume of carries he needs. Once he starts getting 20-25 touches a game, they'll see more things opening up in...

    NFL - Offseason, Draft & 2016/17 Season

I think the Seahawks just aren't running the ball enough. Christine Michael is a talented back who's had success the last couple of weeks, and Rawls hasn't been at 100%. I don't think Russell Wilson is the QB you want with 35+ pass attempts per game, and he's being asked to do way too much...
