There's this Mario Balotelli guy playing for Nice in Ligue 1 who's been banging in goals. Big physical player with pace and power to go along with a cracking strike.

Wasn't there some agitation between Icardi and the Inter supporters? Did that get smoothed over?

I really rate him, should have tried to sign him when he was at Chelsea. However I don't think he'd fit into our style of play and struggle like Benteke + he'd cost around £50m in today's market.

RUMOURS: Liverpool to make move for German talent Meyer

Jurgen Klopp is said to be a fan of the Germany playmaker and will tell the club to make a move for him in the new year, but faces competition from Barcelona
Liverpool are preparing a move for Schalke and Germany playmaker Max Meyer, according to French publication Le 10 Sport.
Jurgen Klopp is said to be an admirer of the 21-year-old, having come up against him whilst in charge of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, and will tell the Reds to make a bid in the January transfer window.
Liverpool face competition from Barcelona for the Germany prospect, who has scored once in his three appearances for his national side, though Borrusia Dortmund are determined to hold on to him.

Did you make this up? He plays for Schalke and the word Borussia is misspelled.

I just hope he's not being sounded out as a replacement for Coutinho who has once again unwittingly whored himself out to the footballing world last night by playing majestically and scoring a worldly for Brazil last night, we need to up his salary.

Mirror linking us with a January move for Tah.

Also linking us with a move with Luke Shaw. Then we'll really have a fat flabby melt in the squad.

Surely Shaw is simply 1+1=11? The moaning one has frequently dragged him under the bus so he'll be offski, and why not to Liverpool who seems ngly need a left-back.

Liverpool’s interest in Mahmoud Dahoud has “cooled”, with Borussia Dortmund pursuing midfielder – report
Dahoud has been linked with the Reds since early in the summer, and was believed to be on Jurgen Klopp‘s radar for the January transfer window. Most recently, German publication Express suggested the Reds would make a £26 million bid for the 20-year-old on the turn of the year, as Klopp continues to mould his squad. However, with Dahoud emerging as a target for Dortmund, Liverpool’s interest has “cooled,” according to the Mail‘s Dominic King.
King confirms Dahoud was a “prime target” for Klopp in the summer, but the 49-year-old, is now focussing his attention on signing another winger in the January transfer window.

This could leave Dortmund free to sign the Syrian-born star, who has fallen out of favour at Borussia-Park this season. Dahoud has made 10 appearances for Gladbach so far in 2016/17, including only four starts in the Bundesliga—however, he remains a young talent with vast potential. According to German newspaper Bild, Dortmund are preparing an offer for Dahoud in January, involving ex-Reds loanee Nuri Şahin.

Klopp’s former side are said to be willing to offer Şahin and £13 million to secure Dahoud’s services.
This would provide both Şahin and Dahoud with a satisfactory conclusion to their respective troubles at Dortmund and Gladbach, with neither commanding a regular role this season.
Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is believed to have earmarked Dahoud as “a successor to Ilkay Gundogan,” who left the Westfalenstadion to join Manchester City for £20 million, scoring five goals in 11 games so far. Tuchel arguably needs a player of Dahoud’s ilk more than Klopp, given the gulf Gundogan’s departure left at Dortmund, with both Sebastian Rode, Mario Gotze and Gonzalo Castro struggling to replicate his quality in the No. 8 role.
However, Dahoud is a talent worth pursuing, and could bolster Klopp’s midfield ranks significantly—which will be particularly important if they qualify for the Champions League next season.
But Klopp’s priorities lie elsewhere, with navigating Danny Ings‘ season-ending injury and Sadio Mane‘s international commitments at the top of his list.

This makes sense to me. Bolstering the midfield won't be a priority until next summer, with Hendo locking down the midfield anchor role and the other 1-2 spots fiercely contested by Can, Wijnaldum and Grujic (with Milner, Ejaria and Brannagan as additional options). There is already a deficit of playing time for the midfielders who are here and a potential January midfield signing, coming here without a full pre-season under Klopp, will be at a further disadvantage.

In contrast, there is no clear alternative to Mane – maybe Origi or Ojo can fill in for a few games in January, but our season could really get derailed if Mane gets a lot-term injury (I winced every time South Africa's players tackled him a few days ago – they were hunting for him like a family of lions pursuing an antelope; fortunately he emerged unscathed) or just loses form, which supposedly happened to him in the past. Mane is essentially a catalyst to our whole attacking game as the one who creates space for others with his runs and also one of the team's best finishers. So it seems quite logical that Klopp would view signing another quality winger as a #1 priority in January. He recently said something about not having many wingers, which corroborates this story.

Ojo is back in training and is cover for Mane in January and Sturridge or Origi could step in as well.
