I think id play Johnson first. Hes a better footballer.
My ideal starting line up based on what ive seen so far this year and last would be

------------------------------------------Reina----------------------------------------------
Johnson-----------Agger-----------------------------Carragher--------------Enrique
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Lucas------------Meireles---------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maxi-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Downing
-----------------------------------------Suarez---------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------Kuyt-----------------------------------------------

Obviously thats with Gerrard being unfit.

I still regard Richards to be a bit brainless and clumsy, but I've not seen much of him at all in the last year and all City fans swear he's improved massively over that period. So I take it he's fulfilling his potential now and if Johnson doesn't get his shit sorted Richards will be lining up for England in Euro2012.

i wouldn't rule out kelly being first choice for liverpool and england by the end of the season - capello has already been making positive noises about the young fellow.

I honestly can't pick between them, they're both great options.

Johnson for me right now but shows the strength of the squad compared to last season when we looked at the bench there was nothing remotely interesting, now we have Suarez and Merieles coming on to make a massive difference.

I like Kelly and he is the future but Magic for me. He may have had some defensive frailties but since he moved to LB, he has improved a great deal wanna see him at RB with Enrique at LB. That should be something to behold

On a sidenote, was quite surprised at the high %.

64% of Kelly’s passes originated or were in Arsenal’s half whilst 46% of Enrique’s passes were in Arsenal’s half.

I'm not entirely sure than Johnson is still quicker than Kelly...

Over first 20m - Johnson

Over 60m - Kelly

Over 100m - Johnson

Hahaha.
What about the first 10m? Is Kelly faster at 50m or does Johnson still have the edge up till the 55m mark?
How intriguing.

FOOTBALLER Martin Kelly’s impressive return to action in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory at Arsenal has caught the eye of England coach Fabio Capello.

The defender, who was born in Whiston and grew up in Newton-le-Willows, returned to the Reds' starting line-up in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday for the first time since February.

Kelly burst on to the Anfield scene last year with a run of tremendous form but he was beset by hamstring problems from February.

However, after undergoing a conditioning and strengthening programme, which has included yoga, the 6ft 3ins full back appears firmly in manager Kenny Dalglish’s plans for the new season.

The England under 21 international’s assured display at the Emirates also impressed Capello, who told Sky Sports: “I see some players (that are) interesting for me, some new players like Kelly the right-back, he is really interesting.

“He is young and he played a good, good game.”

Those comments have led some observers to speculate Kelly, who went to the former St Aelred’s Catholic Technology College in Newton-le-Willows, is under consideration for England’s forthcoming Euro 2011 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales.

Rumours that he might be in the next England squad.
He should be. He's great

During the commentary for the Spurs Gooners game today the numpty commentator listed five or six "outstanding prospects" for the England right back spot, including Kyle Walker.

Kelly wasn't one of them.

If Kelly doesn't get to play for England any time soon, I won't cry about it.

Especially as he seems to be rather injury-prone.

Strange but fair IMO. He does the job but he's just not exciting enough.

I don't want exciting full backs.

ever.
you say that but it was a fullback who got forwards and pulled the ball back which created the first goal.

with regards to kelly and johnson and endland, I hope neither get picked again especially with their dodgy hamstrings

Enrique isn't exciting though.

He's pretty solid and reliable.

I usually take "exciting" to mean "can't defend".

I've seen him for n'castle, very attack minded. he's holding back

Hence Del Bosque not picking him ;)

anyway who used the word 'exciting'?
I simply want fullbacks to support the attack, if they aren't going to do that you may as well play 4 centre backs.

I used it in a tongue in cheek remark.

What Im basically saying is that I get why they don't rate Kelly. He's an unglamorous hard worker and we'll probably love him like Carra in a couple of years.
