Impressive run, a bit of an 'unsung hereo' feel to it

Seven wins from nine wit only City beating them

@darkstarexodus and I have pointed this out in the past. Bournemouth's owner Bill Foley has flown under the radar in the premier league. Look at his record with the Vegas Knights. He knows how to run a sports team. Under him, Bournemouth will establish itself as a top 10 club or even higher.

On some form no denying that, wasn’t sure about the decision to sack O’Neil so abruptly after the job he’d done and I’m still not totally convinced they would’ve done any worst had O’Neil carried on given the job he’s now doing at Wolves given they lost half their side in the summer but they seem to be going in the right direction.

Knew they signed some decent players but was unaware the owners pumped in 200m net over the last 2 summers… if they have that spending power then yes it’s only a matter of time before they leapfrog the Wolves, Fulhams and Brentford’s of this world.

Yeah - I thought Iraola was done for earlier in the season after their start, but he’s got them playing well, organised and they’ve made some good signings.

Fair play.

He was impressive at Rayo Vallecano.

[article]While guiding Rayo Vallecano to an 11th-placed finish in La Liga during the 2022/23 campaign, his team achieved an impressive feat.

In November, the Red Sashes saw off reigning champions Real Madrid 3-2 at their Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas headquarters.

Vallecano then followed that victory up with a 2-1 win over eventual champions FC Barcelona, also on home turf, in April.

The victory against Xavi’s title-winning side, coupled with a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture on the opening day of the campaign, ensured Vallecano went unbeaten against Barca last season.[/article]

showed managerial talent early on

[article]A year on from hanging up his boots, Iraola took his first steps into management with Cypriot side AEK Larnaca.

In his tenth competitive fixture as manager of the side, the majority of which had been in Europa League qualifying, he guided the team to silverware.

A 5-2 victory over 14-time winners APOEL Nicosia saw Larnaca lift the Cypriot Super Cup, the first and only time ever in the club’s history.

Not only did the Spaniard achieve with Larnaca domestically, but he also oversaw success on the European stage.

Iraola guided the Guardians to the Europa League group stages for only the second time in their history following six qualifying fixtures.

In a group of FC Zürich, Ludogorets and Bayer Leverkusen, the Cypriot side finished third, bettering their 2011/12 group stage finish of fourth.[/article]

[article]The next stop for Iraola in his management career was CD Mirandés in the Spanish second division.

Despite being in the second tier, the coach guided his team to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, dispatching of higher-league opposition in Celta de Vigo, Sevilla and Villarreal before being narrowly beaten by Real Sociedad over two legs.

He then repeated the feat two seasons later, having moved to Rayo Vallecano after one campaign with Mirandés and then achieved promotion to La Liga in his first season via the play-offs.

The 2021/22 term then saw Vallecano reach the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, Iraola’s side again being seen out of the competition narrowly over two legs, the second time to Real Betis.[/article]

and they had a challenging start to the season fixtures wise

Not afraid to spend and certainly not afraid to make bold decisions.

Their current squad will get sold up to bigger clubs but if they can reinvest well they could be ready to move up a peg or two on the ladder.

Dom Solanke has scored twice more goals than Nunez in the PL this season.

LOL.
You’re a pretty smart guy aren’t you?

Solanke was playing in the championship at Darwin’s age, if age doesn’t matter to you then how many goals did Solanke manage at Liverpool? He scored a grand total of 6 goals in the Prem the season after and Solanke has played 550 more minutes in the PL this season.

Solanke was young when he joined us, and he had a 4 other internationals at the time in front of him. There is an argument that in the CL final we lost (the first one) when Salah went off, we should have got Solanke on in place of the recovering Lallana. But of course Klopp has those moments where he will only play those he trusts 100% and not necessarily what would have been more useful.

Solanke has 14 GAs
Nunez has 15 GAs

Is it easier to score when you're surrounded by average players or good players?

Perhaps, instead of shot conversation, shot accuracy is worth looking at too? - Solanke 45.45%. Nunez 46.15%

Very much depends on the systems you’re playing Modo as we’ve seen various examples of both, in theory it should be easier to score with better players but it doesn’t always work out like that. Aspas for example found it a lot harder, as did Lambert. Ratcharlison until the last few weeks has found it harder. The new guy Everton signed has found it harder. The striker Wolves signed a few years ago for 40 odd mill found it harder. Benteke Carroll etc found it easier to score goals being the big fish in a small pond because the system was in place for them to do so, the team was built to play around them and their strengths.

I think it's more to do with the system.

Are you using ChatGpt for stats ?
Modo just took screen shots for you.
Solanke is having A good season in what was a mediocre career. Good luck to the kid. Nunez is extremely frustrating but he gives us chaos and pace. 8 goals and 7 assistsat the halfway point of the season is very good!

Not sure I see the correlation between screenshot and you posted, anyway I remember when GA stood for Goals Against.
