He’ll Slot right in

Lads the Klopp Bolm busy cycle
Give the guy a chance.

The Bundesliga quality has always been hard to judge, some hits, lots of misses, but Klopp proved a massive hit. Slot might adapt just as well.

The standard of player that Slot will be dealing with will be massively increased moving from Holland to the Prem.

We have a good squad. But maybe a squad that needs a tweak and a change of approach and focus, despite the successes Klopp has brought. Managers can get tunnel vision and avoid tricky decisions despite successes. So a fresh eye could be good.

I don't want him to bring any Feyenoord players in, they won't be good enough. He will need to invigorate the players we have and those the management team chooses to add to the squad.

He can add value by changing what we do. A tweak here or there will pay dividends I think, Trent's role could be a key one. A formation change might engender some reward. Our forwards and their flexibility another one.

I do wonder though why we've gone for him. Are you telling me Slot is a better coach/manager that Emery? Emery is only 53. Maybe we sounded out Emery and it wasn't happening, who knows? Inzaghi is ripping up trees, Mancini is 59 with Prem experience. There were options there.

If he's a new Cruyff, great news. If he's the next Eric Ten Pence, fucks sake. It seems like a risk to me. I'm all over the place with this one.

I think they've gone for someone who plays like Klopp, to get the most out of the team. They likely think it helps build on the past success.

There are a lot of interesting stats from how Feyenoord defend and how few shots they concede.

Slutty seems a great tactician.

SO, we saw it in 2022-2023. Will we see a "Hangover" in 2024-2025 from the players being so gutted and drained at how close they came but no cigar?

Can they get back up again?

Finishing 7/8 points off the title and having your race run with 5 games to go isn’t the same as what we’ve gone through before.

Could be joining Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq.

Steven Gerrard set for Liverpool reunion as Jurgen Klopp changes continue at Anfield

PSV chief Marcel Brands has offered advice to Arne Slot ahead of taking charge of Liverpool.

Slot will leave Feyenoord for Liverpool on July 1 to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Brands, formerly technical director of Everton, told Goedemorgen Eredivisie: “Don't focus blindly on signing five Dutch players.

“He has to look very carefully at what he needs with his style of football. Only settle for top players."

He added, “Slot will be working at one of the biggest clubs in England. You have to realise that. Liverpool have supporters from all over the world, and the pressure is always there. Just like Manchester United, they really are the biggest clubs in England.

"But it is a fantastic challenge."

Incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot has responded to transfer advice he was given.

Slot was on the receiving end of some words of wisdom from Everton's former director of football Marcel Brands.

The Dutch coach of Feyenoord is taking charge at the Reds when the season concludes, with only an official announcement remaining.

In an appearance on Dutch television, Brands said: "Don't focus blindly on attracting five Dutch players. He has to look very carefully at what he needs with his style of football. Only settle for top players.

"Slot will be working at one of the biggest clubs in England. You have to realize that. Liverpool has supporters from all over the world, and the pressure is always there. Just like Manchester United, they really are the biggest clubs in England, but it is a fantastic challenge."

Slot then told Voetbal Zone: "That's good advice from people who have worked in the Premier League and have made their mark in football.

"But I don't think you should always judge based on moments from the past. I also read everywhere about the success rate of Dutch coaches in England. There are so many variables. If a player is good, it shouldn't matter what level he comes from.

"But at the moment, there's no talk of anything because nothing has been officially confirmed yet." Slot also admitted he does not know when his appointment will be official, but remains confident the deal will get done.

"These kinds of things always take some time," he explained.

"I have said many times that I am confident that things will turn out well. I can't tell you exactly when it will be released at the moment."

Liverpool striker Cody Gakpo admitted that he is curious about their incoming head coach.

The Reds are bringing in Dutchman Arne Slot to take over from Jurgen Klopp in the offseason.

While Gakpo is aware of Slot from his time in the Eredivisie, he admits the transition won't be simple.

“To be honest, I have never worked with him," Gakpo told Viaplay.

“I know, of course, that he is a very good coach who has shown it at AZ and at Feyenoord too. We played against [his Feyenoord] a few times, often difficult games.

“I am very curious and I think we are all very much looking forward to it.

“The focus at the moment is not there yet and is now on finishing the last two games well, for ourselves, for the club, for the coach, and then we will look further at the new coach."
