If Lucho goes…

The reply to Bayern should be something like “you’re half way there… now stop living on a prayer, take our hand and we’ll make a deal, I swear”.

Although, sometimes you’ve got to hold on to what you’ve got and it does make a difference if we make it or not - as long as it’s not Nunez taking it, we should give ita shot.

Still funny 🤣

Ideally we're putting the groundwork on one of the options to replace. Be that Rodrygo, Gordon, Fofana . Don't care. We need to be proactive

I don’t believe the Rodrygo talk, but the Isak story is clearly legit, so it looks like Highes chose option D… Exciting times.

If we sign Isak and fund the move by selling Darwin and Diaz - would we be OK to go into the season with just four star attackers: Isak, Wirtz, Salah and Gakpo + potentially Chiesa staying and some kids?

I’d say no - we’re light on attackers if we sell Diaz - he’d be critical in covering Isak upfront as well as rotating with Gakpo on the left.

You’re effectively saying should we replace Diaz, Darwin & Jota with Isak and a bit of Wirtz (depending on the plan for him).

Too risky in my opinion - particularly given that Isak might gas those niggly injury worries.

IF, and for me it’s a massive IF, we sell Diaz (because I don’t think we will for these very reasons) then we’ll need to sign someone else.

I hear what you’re saying, but look to historically great attacks: MSN, BBC, our own Salah, Bobby and Mane (is there a universally accepted acronym for them?) - there was barely any rotation in those positions when you have 3 world-class forwards at their peak. With the likes of Wirtz and Isak, if it happens, we’re approaching this territory - these players are too unique and too valuable to rotate on a regular basis.

Now with Salah being over 30 and Isak’s injury issues, I agree you probably need a bit more cover than some of these other trios, but generally your star forwards should be expected to play every meaningful game and it’s simply too expensive to have someone of the same caliber on the bench, let alone 2 or 3 such players. Jota would have been perfect as an option to have in all 3 positions, but alas… we might have to keep Chiesa in this case because I just don’t see us replacing 4 attackers in one window.

I’m having a brain fade because I can’t figure out who MSN & BBC are?

Even that Salah, Bobby & Mane had the likes of Origi, Sturridge, Shaqiri, Ox, Jota & Minamino making important contributions along the way - and we’ve seen how easy it is for a season to get derailed if you maintain too small a squad.

It’s not far off, I’d just prefer to have a little more firepower rather than taking a risk and I’d prefer the kids to go out on loan.

Obviously, Rurik was referring to Darren Bent, Phil Bardsley, and Frazier Campbell

With MSN, I am not sure. Rurik could be referring to Mark Viduka, Alan Smith, and Neil Sullivan or Mido, Tuncay Sanli, and O'Neil.

If we're to stick with those numbers then I think we to replace Chiesa with a versatile attacker that Slot actually wants and will play. If we have knocked back Sunderlands loan deal for Riu then it's not beyond the realms that Slot sees him as an option in the PL.

As it stands though I'd like Diaz properly replaced.
