Liverpool related transfer speculation

That's some excellent business.

We have managed to squeeze blood from a stone.

Lost a player who would have been on parity with our top earners but had as many pros as cons. Replaced him with someone who addresses some of his attacking pros and have a player already in the squad who addresses the weaknesses.

It looks like we have a player coming in who is world class and will be a creative fulcrum, so whatever we miss about TAA has been balanced within the squad.

Very generous from Madrid that, hope they win the CWC now.
I don't want them to win shit. In fact I would prefer if City win it rather than them, fucking tap up merchants, probably working on a few of our players right now as I write this.

Then I feel sad for you son. Most times I've watched Wirtz, I've seen him do something special.
Well it is not my fault that he has been poor every time I have seen him play. Also how come no one has questioned this so called "World Class" quality that he has especially that Madrid have not enquired about him considering they got his now former manager ? - I mean don't you all think that he (Alonso) would have gone to Madrid and the first thing he would have said is "We need to sign Flo - he is going to create loads of chances for our front guys blah blah blah ...." - I mean its not like they cannot afford him is it ?

It was totally about the money for me, but the answer's still no. £10 mill's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick but it's still nowhere near what the club should have got for him.

Nobody gives a hoot what the club "should have" got for him, you can't demand anything from a club that doesn't want/need to pay anymore than it has to.....which in turn meant we got to keep the player for as long as we did, that's how contracts work, no?

No. Other LFC players have managed to be up front about their intention to move on and the club has got a proper transfer fee for them, whereas Trent cooperated with those chiselling barstewards to run his contract down. It may be common practice nowadays but that doesn't make it right.

You compared to Owen's figure. We got around £8-12m depending on source. In todays money thats about £30-40m
What they paid for Owen was so so bad. He was one of the best in the world at the time (I mean at least in the top 10 of world strikers). They proper tapped him up.

Not disagreeing with that as far as it goes, but AFAIC what counts most of all is the transfer fee the club missed out on because of that very lying.
I am not joking - but if we assume that he did not go and he had like 3 years left - and we put him up for sale - how much do you lot realistically think we could get for him ? - most teams when they look at RB/LB options - what do you think they look at:

1) Defensive qualities
2) Pace for recovery
3) Attacking specialities

What are the priorities for a RB ? for the last 3 seasons - he has not really done well for points 1 and 2. I honestly think we over-rated him above what the perspective is from outside, - Madrid rate him but not willing to pay what we think would have been his actual transfer fee.

Whether or not that's true - and I'm not convinced it is - we'd still have got a sight more than £10 mill.

Obviously we would have got more than £10 - from the reports during the Winter - Madrid were will to pay around between £22M-£25M for him in the Jan Transfer window, and we said no. When looking at his performances and his affect on our XG (or whatever stat they use) - I do not think the stats team have valued it enough - and as Klopp said "Blame the Owners not the boy". I also think Slot don't want him really - he just cannot say it.
