I think Diaz brings more to the team than Gakpo, who's a little too predictable and doesn't offer the same work rate that the likes of Diaz and Nunez does. Wouldn't be fussed if any of the forward line- save Salah- left this summer other than to maintain some cohesion in the team.
Maybe I'm jaded from previous eras where there were better 9s, but some of the options seem insane to me. Lots of projects like Nuñez, with scant evidence of real quality. Many look around the same level of development, slightly less athletic, more technical. The highlights look decent but then you watch last x shots videos, or every touch, or you've seen them in a game, and they just aren't that special.
I obviously don't want to keep Nuñez but he looks worse as a concept than he does in comparison to the players being bandied about. Throw in the game of musical chairs with arse, Chelsea, united etc. and it's a horrible time to buy a striker.
I worry that the logical response will be to avoid a big purchase.

Hear me out.. what if Leverkusen got a reduced fee for Flekken. What if that in turn helped us get the wirtz deal accepted. Which was all brought about by having the Kelleher deal lowered.

We bought a regular with 2 years left, Brentford are buying a #2 with 1 year left.....it's not really our fault no other club out there value him like the fans do. It's not too much to go on but he was the best keeper at last year Euros.
Plus you can't really compare a keeper who's played 10 league games to a keeper who's played 34, no less one that's had the likers of Konate and Virg in front of him........the other Mosquera and Diakhaby.
If you're into all the stats stuff then Mama has made 93 saves this season which ranks in the top 84th percentile, with a 66% save percentage.
Kelleher has made 27 saves, which is only in the top 35th percentile, albeit with a better save percentage of 69.2%. His sweeper and high claims are also off the chart which tells me we're getting a commanding keeper who's confident in his ability to read danger.
Had we waited over the window, I tbink we would been able to get a fixed fee of £20m, if not a little more. Maybe we just want some money to hit the accounts early with some big spending looking likely, but yeah, I echo the mild disappointment of the fee.
Anyway, I hope he does well. He's been the model professional, was key to us winning the league cup last year and has often seemlessly deputised for one of the world's best with little drop off, if any.

A shame, and means we've got more of a summer to sort things out. Perhaps it'll be gakpo/chiesa/Rio as our left side.
Looks like we're moving fast in a number of areas......which I like....really really like, time to really attack the market and for the first time in 15 fucking years....make a statement to every other club to let them know what's up. No more dilly dallying, no more waiting for so and so, no more only 1 or 2 players that can improve the squad bollocks.
You don't just decide, there must be some concrete plans in place about where he is to go and where he is to play.
