Mo Salah 2025/26 Season

Discounting Sterling as he’s not going to get a kick Salah is the only active EPL player with 100 goals to his name.

He really is the last of the true greats.

Haaland will fuck off before he gets anywhere near the top.

Lest not forget..

It feels like Slot has told Mo the team needs to begin the transition away from relying so heavily on him for goals and assists as he won’t be here in a couple of years max. That process has clearly started with a chance in tactics and approach. I think Salah will have been told he’ll still play and as long as he continues to contribute a decent amount of goals and assists then he’ll play.
Feels like he’s now snatching at things as he is getting the ball far less than last season.

As things stand he’d finish with 18 league goals and 9 assists. If he gets that and we’ve managed to transition to less reliance on him but still winning games and importantly titles then everyone should be delighted.
I would be shocked if Slot has said anything of the kind and why Salah has played every minute. If Salah was performing like the beginning of last year, Slot would be silly to try to slow the production down. But EVERYONE knew that it was highly unlikely Salah would be perform at last year's level and at least revert to his very high mean, so we certainly did some business to prepare for the future.

I think the conversation might happen soon though.

Mo’s influence on the team is diminishing, maybe he should be dropped sometime soon but before we do that he deserves a chance to re-find his form.

My idea would be to drop Gakpo* and Mo to play on the left. If we then play Frimpong/Bradley at right back they will have space to run in to.

The first time I saw Mo was for FC Basel against Chelsea, he was awesome in both games and played on the left in those days.

I think Mo is stuck in a rut and defenders know all his tricks and where he wants to run to; a move back to the left will re-invigorate him, give defenders something new to think about, give Mo a change of scenery and give our attacking right backs more space to run into.

* I like Cody and for what we paid for him he has been a big success but he should never be considered an automatic starter.

Mo was this bad a couple of years back and everyone threw the towel in then, most did anyway. The problem is, every time he has a downturn in form, people are going to ask if this is the time that his form doesn't come back. At some point it won't.

To me though he looks a bit off. It could be a combination of a few things, there's been a huge impact on the team this Summer, but I think positionally he's the one who has bore the brunt of the changes:

* Szobo has been playing right back, so he hasn't had anyone on the inside right channel. Harvey has gone too so there's no alternative from the bench late in games, as there was before, which Mo would often benefit from.
* We have had three different right backs this season, two who are new to the team/role, again this disrupts any sort of partnership Mo can build.
* We have a different front line again, so Mo is getting used to a new player, making different runs and offering a slightly different approach - notably Ekitike tugging more to the left and deep, it'll take time. Maybe it will be different with Isak, but it's another transition again. As highlighted, Gapko, Wirtz and Eki all drift to the left, unfortunately Isak will do the same. Maybe Frimpong is earmarked more as a RW in the long term, who knows, but I think Slot is bold enough to make that decision when it's needed.
* Jota

He's had some huge changes and challenges to deal with and overcome. Given his previous, I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt, but I think we and he also need to face the prospect of being able to decide to withdraw him from games or during games, without concerns about tantrums, they both need to accept it's for the greater good and it will help everyone in the long term. It's not just Slot that's guilty of it, Klopp was too, it's difficult to tread such a thin line of having a truly great player who is so ultra competitive and prone to showing his frustrations.

We are only 4 games in, and people are talking about replacing our top scorer for the past 8-9 seasons. And for whom?

Look at the bench, is there anyone else deserving of a starting spot? Cheesy? Let's be real. Everything is theoretical, player X or Y is going to come in play better than Mo with little actual evidence it's going to work.

9 seasons of actual proven figures, reigning footballer of the year simply can't beat fantasy football. He is leaving for AFCON at some point so some of you will get your wish soon enough.

And you can't beat age. He's 33. Bringing up his past 8-9 seasons is pointless. We saw what happened to Mane.

Aging player? Meet the cliff.

Still didn't answer the question. Who else instead of Mo at this point? He is going to be replaced at some point I don't disagree but perhaps when we get Isak up to speed first? The conversation can be made after AFCON but for now it's premature.

Even if he is struggling he is still our best goal scorer and someone who is capable of producing something out of nothing.

Sick of seeing the cunt on the pitch for 90mins every week and I know I'm not the only one - which by the way 85mins of it is spent losing the ball repeatedly, not pressing, not tracking back and pussying out of duels, until this manager grows a pair of balls and subs him off when he's stinking the gaff out, it's going to be called out.

Ideally we would've signed someone like Bakayoko who could push him to the bench every now and then, or at least kept Doak, but nope. Might aswell retire the RW position in memory of Mo.

A Liverpool fan calling one of our greatest ever players a cunt! Fuck off Binomial ya cunt.

I continually underestimate the potential Jota factor. Mo seems to have really taken his loss hard.

I'm hopeful that his decline in form is tied to this moreso than the inevitable physical decline we hope to stave off a bit longer.

He's playing like shit but I'm prepared to give him some time, given the credit he has in the bank. (Doesn't mean we shouldn't sub him off sometimes though.)

It's always the same fickle, shortsighted, perennial teenage wankers.

And yes, there is the Jota factor. Give yourselves a fucking slap, or better still, quit posting your utter fucking drivel. Best fans in the World? When did we get infested by the X/Twitter retardom?

While I think most people accept that we haven't been at our best so far this season, we also accept that this is a changed team and it will take a while to settle. While that is particularly the case with the new players, it applies to the existing ones too, including Salah.

Ultimately we have won 4 out of 4 without really playing that well, and Salah has contributed 2 goals in that without playing that well.

It could be that he'll never recover any form and this is it now. It could be that the whole team will never be that good again, and this is it now.

Balance of probabilities on both counts, unlikely.

I don’t want him replaced, but I would like to him subbed at 60 minutes when he is clearly having a shit day.

And, I don’t call a shit day being somewhat anonymous. He often does that and does something (more than convert a penalty, late on. A shit day is when he consistently miscontrols the ball, loses the ball to his defender, and misplaces his passes.

On shit days, he should be subbed.

I think we can all agree on that.

Just ask yourself a simple question, if we ever need a goal and Salah, Ngumoha and Chiesa are on the bench, who will you bring on? I will bring on Salah 100% of the time. So why will you sub him out when he is already on the pitch?

I'm not one for replacing him straight off the bat. But I want to see him subbed off if he's not contributing as per the eye test.

Against Burnley any warm body would have been better. Frimpong, any of our forwards or even Szobo. Literally anyone!
