Other clubs transfer news (home and abroad)

Strikers from the Dutch and Portuguese leagues always need to be taken as a huge risk. For every Suarez there's an afonso alves.

Although I am struggling to think of a successful striker coming from the Portuguese league

Had a look and it really is slim pickings.

Falcao is probably the only one.

Agreed. Of all the strikers on the market, he is the one I want Arsenal to buy. He's 27 so arguably at his peak and will decline soon. He's never played in this league. 50% of his goals last season were penalties (will he take over from Saka on pens?). He looks to struggle against physically imposing CBs.

If they got a Sesko, they'd have someone who might grow and develop into a top player but they are signing someone who is already at his ceiling.
Would love it if this were to be proved accurate.

Not necessarily. Elanga primarily plays on the right. Also, Newcastle need a few extra bodies now that they're playing in the CL.
55m isn't extra body money. It's replacement money.

So it'll probably be

Gordon----Isak----Elanga

Kudus for 55m is a good signing but unfortunately it’s only to Spurs. Bit of a desperate sale by West Ham though.

Either Potter's decided Kudus doesn't fit the style he wants to play, or he's going to be mightily naffed off about this.
I think Kudus is the one who wanted to leave. You could see how frustrated he looked on the pitch towards the end of last season.
Potter whole thing is about team spirit and togetherness. Can't have someone in the squad that might cause trouble.

I don’t know after last season. 5 goals and 4 assists in 35 games wasn’t exactly the right direction for his development.

Maybe Frank sees him as a Mbuemo type player in his set up. Could work.

Apparently West Ham don't have much PSR wriggle room and Kudus was their only likely big sale to generate funds from. Think West Ham and Potter would be interested in Harvey & Tyler both, as they both would suit his way of playing.

Kudos is more of a West Ham player then Graham Potter is a West Ham Manager. The reality is the fans will turn on Potter this season for his dreary football. Any new manager will be tasked with returning to playing the 'West Ham Way' and Kudos would have been useful for that project.

He's smart to get out whilst he can, though. I can just envisage a near future where West Ham will be kicking themselves. In the right circumstances and set up, Kudos is an excellent attacker and built for the Premier League. They don't grow on trees.

West Ham might be the club that the newly promoted see at the the one they can get in front. Both Leeds and Sunderland have done some good transfer business so far.

I think Kudus always looks class when I see him. Yeah his record last year was poor but there's obviously a player there somewhere.
